Wow, i thought i was the only one who liked this place. Turns out I was there when it happened (OK, minutes after). I was visiting home (L.A.) and was on my way to the Beverly Center when I saw this black SUV (suburban) parked where the statue stand used to be. My thought was, “i hope the guy who runs that place was not in there”. I mean, nothing was left. What a memorable birthday. For that, and the deals I got that day at the mall while shopping with my girl.

It was a car accident?!? Darn. I passed by the other night, saw the rubble, and honestly thought the strong winds over the weekend were the culprit. That sounds far more romantic, the poor helpless shack getting thrashed by Mother Nature’s fury. Oh well, R.I.P. Statue Shack.

Just checked out the wreckage for myself. Heartbreaking shackloss.

One oddity: a MAGEE’S DONUTS sits in the corner of that lot. Coincidence? I think not. I’ll continue to explore the magee’s /statue connection. Stay tuned.
