Coachella 2006 Line-up Wild Speculation Update
- Productshop NYC is floating the “reliable tip” that My Bloody Valentine will take one of the nostalgic reunion slots of this year’s fest. As amazing as a reunion would be, it is pretty damn hard to visualize MBV spewing feedback on the main stage in the late afternoon sun to 25,000 kids who are mostly unfamiliar with them beyond their hallowed reputation and one song that got occasional alt-rock play. Maybe a 2nd stage or tent headlining slot is more their speed if this pans out. Thoughts?
- Even though his name turns up on a bunch of rumor lists, Morrissey is definitely out. His U.K. tour puts him in English towns with the adorable names of “Whitehaven” and “Gateshead” that weekend.
- Lady Sovereign confirms her appearance on her own website. Ch-Ching indeed.
I heard TOOL would headline the 2nd show
When will we find out the truth about MBV at Coachella? I have been waiting to see them since the Loveless album came out. I missed them then because I was on vacation. I will not miss them at Cochella.
Thanks for the tip, Bez.
Smashing Pumpkins, Portishead, The White Stripes, The Strokes, Gorillaz, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Massive Attack, Maximo Park, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Editors, Underworld, Ordinary Boys, Secret Machines.

huphtur: I hear you. The brilliant BOC has never toured, so naturally you (and I as well) want a dedicated performance of their own. We can hope that if they do they come over for Coachella, they’ll also play San Diego and possibly Orange County.
JK: Ah, good catch. So maybe the MBV thing is feasible, if a bit incongruous to the festival atmosphere. I do think there are far more Bauhaus fans vs. MBV fans today though.
V.: Boards of Canada should not be experienced at such a “festival” as coachella.

Um, you pretty much just described the Bauhaus reunion from last year’s Coachella.
“Whitehaven” and “Gateshead” are obviously fictional inventions, used for cover.
A klezmer band covering Eagles tunes?! Awesome! I hope they play “Shtetl California”!
Geez huphtur, kinda harsh. Even if there was a klezmer band covering Eagles tunes playing Coachella, who cares? There’s enough stages and tents to make everyone happy.
Tight! Especially Lady Sovereign’s “I want to jump you” face. I caught the street light red no, green go, yellow maybe motif. Good job! If I hear any more confirms, I’m sure to holla back at a youngin. Whoo whoo!
What’s wrong with Boards of Canada? Is it them specifically or is it the idea of them playing this festival that you’re against? Explain yourself.
Boards of Canada? I hope NOT.
Thanks! We do all our graphics work here on MS Paint for Windows 3.1.
Official announcement to public comes inbetween the end of the pre-sale and the beginning of regular sale. I think we’ll all have it figured out before 2/2, when the Weekly ad runs.
Speaking of reliable tips, any official date of when the line-up is officially announced? Fancy photoshop work there by the way.
