[...] Applicant #1 was a student at USC and a skilled photographer. He/she wanted to write about cupcakes. We don’t generally write about cupcakes, and not just because they’re overblown and full of fat (the same could be said about me). We’re having a hard enough time getting Mair to stick to mac and cheese, as it is. Generally speaking the focus is on dodgy shacks and ethnic foods. Burritos. Tacos. Organ-based soups. We’re comfortable here. [...]

[...] Per reader Hilary’s comment on Luna Park’s Baked Macaroni & Cheese, I made a plan with my dining accomplice April to try LP this past Wednesday. The vibe of the restaurant is very hip and trendy especially for drinking, the music was loud and the lighting was on the darker side. It was also a bit crowded. Some menu items I enjoyed looking at were the Make Your Own S’Mores with a roasted marshmallow on top of a candle flame with melted chocolate and graham crackers (I love s’mores!) and the Goat Cheese Fondue with bread and apple slices.
Violet does have the best Mac&Cheese! The spinach had pine nuts in it which added an interesting touch. The risotto was good too, even though it had a yellow puddle as well :)

We ate here on Saturday night (3/25) and had a great time. I agree--the mac 'n' cheese is the best. I didn't want to share. Save room for dessert next time. They have a flourless chocolate cake that is wonderful, with a side of chocolate gelato. Yum!
