Dalt’s Mac and Cheese WAS that good! :( I heard about Dalt’s a few weeks ago and it makse me so sad. It was a great restauarant.

thanks for all the suggestion guys. i just checked on dalt’s and indeed it’s been closed since last year. hey, if their mac n cheese was that good, it should have been open still. luna park’s mac was good, just not as good as violet’s. i’m sure without the ham, the baked mac at violet is still awesome. cheers to good dining!

try the mac-n-cheese at the kitchen, corner of sunset and fountain in the silver lake/los feliz area. rich! creamy! delish!
pete’s, downtown, corner of main and 4th, is good as well, but the kitchen is the best i’ve had in LA.

I’m also a fan of the mac and cheese at Pete’s downtown. I like their pork chops & potato pancakes too!

The best M&C I ever had was at “North”, a restaurant accross the street from Virgin Megastore on Sunset. It looked like a ski lodge and I don’t even know if it’s still open. It was called “Smack & Cheese” and it had jalapenos in it. Ambrosia.

As far as “not much else to do” around the restaurant, you could head south on LaBrea to Little Bar, just north of 8th Avenue. It’s never crowded (that I’ve seen) and has a great intimate, neighborhood feel. If you’re a gal, you’ll have your pick of the men-folk, who out-number women 10-1.

The mac and cheese at Pete’s is pretty solid.

Musso and Frank have an interesting macaroni dish as well. (Long pieces w/ mushroom cream sauce)
You’d think it was mac and cheese, almost. It’s fun though.
