OK, I think I've figured out what's going on here: The MJT and its neighbor the Center for Land Use Interpretation are in the City of Los Angeles. However, they in ZIP 90232, the post office for which is in downtown Culver City, and as such have Culver City mailing addresses. The house in which I grew up was in a similar situation, where it was within the incorporated boundaries of one town but the ZIP of another. Kinda dumb.

Hehe.

I always considered my Palms credibility somewhat questionable because 1) I never drank at Irish Times or the now-defunct Sarna’s and 2) I never made it to the MJT. Regarding the latter, I can only get myself in the mood to see tiny, strange things after midnight (and a couple of Gastr del Sol albums, for that matter) and the MJT never happened to be open at that time.

The museum considers itself to be in Culver, as LAist pointed out a few days ago. Are you telling me you didn't see that raging comment debate, pete-of-the-blogcomments? Mind you, I don't disagree with you but you will have to take it up with the source in this case. Myself, I just call it "over in that area"...

Minor geographic quibble: the Museum of Jurassic Technology is in Palms, not Culver City. Call it “West L.A.,” call it “Culver City Adjacent,” just don’t call it “Culver City.” Nothing in Culver City goes north of Venice Boulevard.
