refugee all starsPICK OF THE WEEK: Sierra Leone’s Refugee All Stars @ Skirball

The Refugee All Stars are a group of six musicians who fled the violence of their native Sierra Leone and started playing together in the refugee camps of Guinea. Their story is captured in a documentary chronicling three years in the lives of the band members, as they make the painful return to Sierra Leone and record their first album there. Make your reservation to catch the documentary screening on Wednesday and the performance Thursday.

    Tips:

    1. Get to Little Pedro’s early for FF. Play some shuffleboard while you wait.

    2. Go see Silver Mt Zion to get your angry Canadian collective fix while DMST resets their tour.

    3. Don’t drink 2 beers during lunch.
