FRIDAY

100 Rooms @ SCI-Arc
100 Rooms, composed entirely of recycled paper. In this installation, Los Angeles-based firm Daly, Genik Architects has drawn inspiration from ancient sites such as Catahoyuk, Ur and El Kahun, where stone and brick were first tooled into modular component materials to give shape to simple rooms that clustered into complex spatial arrays. Cocktails in Historic Places @ Cognac Room
Join all your friends in the Art Deco Society of L.A. in the Cognac Room, a chic, sleek Deco lounge located just behind the Gallery Bar. Never heard of it, you say? That’s because it’s tucked out of the way, just behind the hotel’s central bar – and its Art Deco murals set the perfect ambience for this month’s gathering.

AFRMA Fancy Rat & Mouse Show @ Woodcrest Community Center
The American Fancy Rat and Mouse Association (AFRMA) was founded in 1983 to promote and encourage the breeding and exhibition of fancy rats and mice, to educate the public on their positive qualities as companion animals, and to provide information on their proper care.

All Photography Show @ Create:Fixate
One-night only art exhibit, complete with a diverse one-of-a-kind musical soundtrack. The evening begins with a free preview of the exhibit from 4:00pm – 7:00pm.

Autumn Lights
Autumn Lights’06 is a multi-media and light art exhibition set against the backdrop of the Eli and Edythe Broad Plaza at the Caltrans Building. A group exhibit, Autumn Lights showcases digital projections, light box/backlight installations, performance painting, and 3D light sculptures by Los Angeles based artists accompanied by live music.

Blessing of the Animals
The Interfaith Blessing of the Animals is free to the public and their pets. Seniors, families, singles, and children, are encouraged to bring their dogs, cats, birds, lizards, rabbits, pot-bellied pigs, fish, toroises and turtles and other well-behaved pets.

Featuring live 16 mm projections of home movies on the Ghettogloss building, dj’s spinningbeats, a Pullip raffle and a live puppet show performance by the Cinnamon Roll Gang.

Life Can Be So Car-Free @ L.A. State Historic Park
