Pete, I disagree. You’re always dogging on peoples’ looks! Rock and roll is not pretty; it is blood-on-shirt-in-steamed-clam-humidity gritty. I would argue that the horizon would be considerably more vapid if every performer were as polished and as dapper as, say…oh..I dunno…Interpol™
I DID get pictures of the opener! They’re called Dark Hand and Lamp Light and the guy playing the music was Dan Paisley and the girl doing the AMAZING illustrations and projections is a Canadian artist named Shary Boyle. I now want to see some more of her projection work and illustrations. More info on her here: http://www.sharyboyle.com

if you go to her website and click on drawing, then click on the arrow, the second painting is 2005. Once I Had a Child, which is the cover used on the upcoming album by Swan Lake (Beast Moans)… neat
Great tip, this heart. Now we can have the artwork to go with our downloaded leaks of the Swan Lake record. (Still not sure what I think of it myself after a couple of listens.)

i like parts of it… and if anyone is eager to purchase the album it’s available at the jagjaguwar store for pre order(free s&h!).
Here’s a link to some Dark Hand & Lamp Light photos (the opening act). It was pitch dark in there and difficult to get any photos which showed Doug Paisley, the guy who did the music. http://www.flickr.com/photos/vidalia/sets/72157594346278378/
[...] All hands on Pete! We are looking a bonafide four-alarm emergency right in the face. MVPete has gone missing. Originally I thought he’d dropped off the radar after I told him to stop calling people ugly, but the fact of the matter is that ten short days later, inaugural Losanjealous Commenter of the Month MVPete has gone missing – not only from the smug-infused comment section of your local blogs, but from his own knowledge base as well, SlightlySlack, where his last posting (04 Nov 2006) sits molding in silence, akin to a well-worn sitcom career gambling reinvigoration with a Friday set at the Laugh Factory. my bad. this third installment of Klaus’ Comedy Canon was supposed to be up on Wednesday. Better late that never… Eugene Mirman, Michael Showalter, & Leo Allen @ Rififi, NYC (CRED) Since my last Comedy Canon, the NYC comedy scene…
Mr. Oldham is one homely dude without the mountain man beard. He should really consider bringing it back.

Agreed, Ryan.
That being said, judging by those pics, Bonnie and the gang are possibly the best-dressed band ever to take the stage at the Smell.
Though….they do say there’s no such thing as being over-dressed.
Did you get any pics of the opener? from what i can see in the back, the background illustrations looked neat.
