Win Tickets to Sister’s Christmas Catechism at Brentwood Theater
By
Victor - Wednesday November 29th 2006
You’ve said to us, “Losanjealous, I can’t get out to all your great rock shows every night. My ears ring constantly and my liver aches from all the beer. Is there anything you could give me that doesn’t involve rock shows just for one night? Something werein I might actually get to sit down? A play perhaps? Preferably one with a holiday theme?”
And we listened. And so in a nice change of pace for us, we have tickets to giveaway for a performance of holiday play My Sister’s Catechism , running at the Brentwood Theater December 5-17. From the press release:
It’s CSI: BETHLEHEM in Sister’s Christmas Catechism. Sister tackles the question that has been puzzling historians throughout the ages: What ever happened to the Magi’s gold? Sister engages her audience, and together they solve the mystery of what happened to the Magi’s gold through a forensic examination of the nativity scene as Sister hunts under the manger and over camel humps. Audience members are selected to be characters in a living nativity/crime scene. Along with local choirs singing Christmas favorites live onstage, the holidays are celebrated like never before through laughter and song. Sister is comin’ to town with a sleigh full of free gifts, not to mention a bundle of laughs. Audiences are encouraged to bring their cameras!
Contest entry has ended. Winners will be notified shortly. Thanks to all who entered.
Buy advance tickets for a discounted price by entering the code TINSEL.

Where in the World is Bill DeMarco???
That’s what we want to know.
He might be dead. He might be alive. One thing’s for sure: your opinion matters to us!
In our effort to bring you the most interesting possible content, Losanjealous scientists have composed this survey/aptitude test. Your responses will determine whether we continue bringing you the delightful adventures of Bill DeMarco. . .or can him. He wouldn’t have it any other way probably!
So take two minutes to complete the survey and answer the questions as if someone was pointing a gun at you on a ski-lift.
Call it homage. Call it democracy. Just don’t call it late for brunch!
Bon appetit!

Win Tickets to See Roger O’Donnell + iPod & PSP Gear
By
Victor - Tuesday November 28th 2006

Ex-Cure and -Psychedelic Furs keyboardist Roger O’Donnell is bringing his own project to Spaceland next Tues 12/5 and we have tickets to giveaway. He’s doing a nice mellow electronica thing. Check out his MySpace or grab this Dntel remix of “For The Truth In You” to get an idea for yourself. Not coincidentally, our own local hero Jimmy Tamborello is DJing between sets.
San Francisco-based Christopher Willits, who is making interesting electronic/acoustic hybrid stuff in his own right, opens the show. Download his “Yellow Spring” here.
|
Griffin Technology is sponsoring their tour, so as a sexy tie-in, we also have Griffin product to giveaway. Several lucky winners will get mailed to them a 3-pack containing one each of: iPod Nano iTrip, iPod Earjams, and a PSP iTrip. Really.

|
|
Send an e-mail to contest@losanjealous.com with your full name and mailing address and you’ll be entered in the drawings for both the tickets and the Griffin swag.

Losanjealous Concert Picks: November 27 – December 3
By
Ron - Monday November 27th 2006
Visit our concert calendar for a full show list, links to buy tickets and our top picks.
PICK OF THE WEEK: The Mountain Goats Code
Mountain Goats secret show this Saturday. Here are some clues to the show’s location from mountain-goats.com:
- The room in which it’s taking place is very small
- It’s in southern California in a place that’s kinda crucial to John Darnielle’s personal history
- Head inland from the ocean
This rules out the Coliseum, Oki-Dog and the Pacific Ocean, but the Travelodge on Holt Boulevard between Gary and White remains a possibility. John goes on to warn, “if you figure it out and go blabbin’ about it to everybody the show probably won’t be able to happen so be discreet please i.e. keep your sleuthing private and your humble host who sees in secret will surely reward you, see you there.” Do it Rockapella!

Ryan - Tuesday November 21st 2006

The Losanjealous editorial staff wishes to assess the difficulty of scaling the fence and rearranging above letters,’80s HOLLYWOOD style, to fashion something akin to NACHO LAND (one of many possibilities).
We’ve had a running bet on the origins of this sign for literally years now. Does anybody out there have the full story on this Hop Louie-adjacent Hill Street landmark?

Has Anybody Seen (MV)Pete?
By
Ryan - Monday November 20th 2006
All hands on Pete! We are looking a bonafide four-alarm emergency right in the face. MVPete has gone missing. Originally I thought he’d dropped off the radar after I told him to stop calling people ugly, but the fact of the matter is that ten short days following that discourse inaugural Losanjealous Commenter of the Month MVPete went missing – not only from the smug-infused comment sections of your local blogs, but from his own knowledge base as well, SlightlySlack, where his last posting (04 Nov 2006) sits molding in silence, akin to a well-worn sitcom career gambling reinvigoration with a Friday set at the Laugh Factory.
One can only speculate as to his whereabouts:
- Has he given in to midterms at last?
- Is he sitting in Doheny Library surrounded by a 700-lb stack of books, sweating a massive paper over city housing problems?
- Birria Que Ricos Burrito Binge Gone Awry?
- Did Pete Join The World Of Warcraft?
- HAS PETE GONE UNDER THE RADAR FOR GOOD?
