I fondly remember the organ grinder and his monkey that would give you back pennies – he only wanted the silver stuff. I’d love to get a picture of the grinder and his monkey – would gladly pay for a photo – if anyone “out there” knows how I can get a photo – reply to this post.

I remember in the fiftys my parents loved the golden pagoda and we would travel quite often from Whittier,Ca.to eat their. My Mom and Dad would drink pink martinies downstairs and then we would go eat upstairs. Even as a kid I couldn’t wait to go. I loved the chicken chowmain, It was my faverate. then when dinner was over we got to pitch pennies in the wishing pond and give pennies to the organ grinders monkey who would always tip his hat.I loved Chinatown grown up as a kid. I’m 60 now and will never forget how much fun we had their. T.N.Thompson

This is what I remember from the 50′s and 60′s and the kind of Chimese food I want. I loved it then and can’t wait to go again. We took many a visiter theer and enjoyed the meal. If you grew up with the family style dinning and the old menu this is the place. Not many around.
