True-to-you.net kindly sends along word of impending Morrissey area appearances in Pasadena in February, his first since 2004:
MORRISSEY will play three nights at Pasadena Civic Auditorium on February 1st (Thursday), 2nd (Friday) and 3rd (Saturday).
Ticket prices are $47, $62 and $77, available at all Ticketmaster ticket centers and www.ticketmaster.com, and at the Pasadena Civic box office M-F Noon-6pm. Tickets are available from 10am on Saturday, January 13th.
The line-up for the concerts will be: Boz Boorer (guitar), Jesse Tobias (guitar), Solomon Walker (bass guitar), Matt Walker (drums) and Vincent Jones (keyboards).
Support will be Kristeen Young.
I can normally throw around the punny Moz references with the best of them, but I’m too tired now. Feel free to insert your own snarky remarks below, you know you want to.

$77?! I guess I just haven’t earned it yet.
(Baby.)
Hang the DJ those are good ticket prices!!!!!
Oh yeah yuh. That;s what I’m talking about!
Oh, guys. You have killed me.
Frankly Mr. Shankly, those jokes aren’t funny anymore.
You’re the one for me, Pasa!
I would certainly pay $77 to see this charming man.
Please, please, let me get what I want! Morrissey tickets at the Civic!
I don’t have much in my life ($77 maybe) but take it, it’s yours…
Michelle wins. Her paraphrasing of the less common “Unlovable” bypassed the more obvious choices.
Also acceptable:
–Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now That I’ve Spent $77 plus Service Fees on these Morrissey Tickets
or
–This is the last night of the fair
And the grease in the hair
Of a speedway operator
Is all a tremulous heart requires
A schoolgirl is denied
She said, “Why the hell are these Pasadena tickets 77 bucks?”
or
–Some shows are pricier than others,
Some shows are pricier than others.
Some show’s mothers are pricier than
Other show’s mothers (??? –Comment Ed.)
A new documentary about Morrissey is being produced for ITV, the largest commercial broadcaster in the UK. The programme is part of the “The South Bank Show†series and is edited and presented by Melvyn Bragg. The film is being made to celebrate 20 years of Morrissey’s solo career, and it is also 20 years since the “South Bank Show” made a programme about the Smiths, just after they split.
The show’s producers are traveling to the US with Morrissey for his concerts Pasadena in early February, and would like to interview some Latino Morrissey fans who live in East Side Los Angeles. If you know of any LA fans who might be interested, especially ones with Morrissey tattoos, quiffs, and a Moz look who will look striking on camera, or are one yourself, please e-mail the assistant producer Naomi Wright at: naomi.wright@itv.com. Thank you very much for your help.
So get teh $47 ticket then! :D Actually, even that’s too pricey for me.
What’s up with the documentary being only for Latino LA fans???
How about:
Oh, you silly old man
You silly old man
You’re making a fool of yourself
So get off the stage
You silly old man
In your misguided trousers
With your mascara and your Fender guitar
And you think you can arouse us?
Then again:
I need advice! I need advice!
Every year I see Morrissey twice
And, Jenn, the Moz Latino-fan thing has been around for a few years. I saw a small local news segment on it once. Probably only because there was an Asian newscaster on. Anyway, apparently there is a (newsworthy) Latino greaser clique out there who throw your classic SoCal backyard BBQ…and awkwardly dance around to Morrissey/Smiths tunes. The gum I was chewing fell out of my mouth when I saw it.
I think it has something to do with an assumption that Latino youth culture is somehow more interesting with aspects of Anglophilia. And how Latino Moz fans are a special “confirmation” of the man’s influence. Not sure, maybe lopez can clarify…
And are Latino Moz fans from outside the East Side ineligible for a spot in the doc? How about overweight ugly ones?
Whoop Whoop!!! Im gonna go see him all 3 nights. I love Morrissey
look up chuck klosterman’s book sex, drugs and cocoa puffs and in one chapter he tries to explain why latinos are a big morrissey fan base, or look up his article on spin mag.
That’s a very funny book that anyone on this blog post would love!!!
its hilarious!! and best of all it makes fucking sense.
i’d shell out the $77. if only to be taken out that night, where’s there music and there’s people and they’re young and alive….but then again, paul weller on the same nights….oh, moz. nothing’s changed. i still love you, i still love you…only slightly, only slightly less than i used to, my love
For that price, a double decker bus better crash into us.
Wait… one more…
Oh, I’m so sickened now…
OMG! I can’t wait! I haven’t seen him since he played in 2002 in so cal at the Pond with Juaguares! YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!
here’s a nice story on a Smiths cover band and the Latino thing…

Jose is a cool cat. Based on Naomi’s criterion though, she wouldn’t want to interview him. He’s a Chicano from Burbank. Hopefully she keeps other Non-Boyle Heights Brown Brothas, Sistas, & non-Latino Boyle Heights cats (Yes C Dawg, you!) in mind.
Is it Genetic?
Why do Latins love Depeche Mode, Cure, and The Smiths?
Frank, maybe it’s because Mexican culture (I can’t speak for other Latin American societies) doesn’t frown on emotional expression by men the way that norteamericano cultures–black and white–do.
Having a national history consisting of 500 years of tragedy, punctuated by only occasional and decidedly short-lived triumphs, would tend to increase a culture’s tendency toward pathos.
Uh, not genetics but DEMOGRAPHICS. Who lives in and around L.A.? That’s the really biggest part of the answer to your question.
But Pete is on the right path. Along those lines, here is one of the more insightful pieces on the Moz/Latino phenomenon that may well apply to the other KROQ bands you mention:

He looks sad.
He looks sad.
Well, we’re talking about the man who gave the world the phrase, “I wear black on the outside ’cause black is how I feel on the inside.”
Morrissey, you fucking know damn well this is L….fucking…A!!!!!and you play just 3 nights in in pasadena?this isn’t ipswitch, england,Mozz, this is you home, man, get it together and play 5 night at the hollywood bowl.you know you’ll sell the bowl out.but i forgive you,i forgive you
damn i think i just felt your pain.
If you can’t see Moz live (Like Me) then come out to
Club London on Sunday.

It should be fun.
For those who missed out on buying Moz tickets for Pasadena, how about just hopping onto JetBlue or Southwest and flying to see him play the Warfield in San Francisco? Tickets go on Sale this Saturday and as far as I know, it’s on February 8th, but may be more than 1 show. It’s pretty much close to the same price as paying a scalper for the Pasadena shows…..
Please, Please don’t scream every song in my ear like last time my little latina friends.
Gracias.
