PICK OF THE WEEK
Dude from StrokesAlbert Hammond Jr. @ Troubadour
‘Fro-y Stroke and son of Albert Hammond (Hence the “Jr.”–Ed.) brings his very decent new solo LP around. He’s in town for 4 gigs this week, but this is the one to catch as it’s the one he’s headlining and, most importantly, it’s the one at which you won’t have to suffer the fans of Incubus, for whom he’s the unlikely opening act for 3 nights at the Wiltern. –Victor

4/26 – Arcade Fire at Spreckels in San Diego. I know it’s not LA but it’s the closest they’ll come to here until way after Coachella.

    Art Brut.

You’ve made my Valentine’s Day, Frank. You have. ♥

  8. Posted by Jenn 2/14/07 at 9:25 am # Reply

Oh yeah, Paolo Nutini’s show will be re-located to either The Henry Fonda or Avalon, whatever you can make out of Troubadour’s message.

    Ahhh. Thanks Jenn
    here’s another one

    Sean Lennon 4/27 @ H.O.B Anaheim

    - Anyone going to the Troub. tonight?
& happy S.A.D (Single Awareness Day) to all you lonely people out in the world today.

Whoa snaps! How about saving some gas and seeing Sean Lennon at the Roxy in West Hollywood April 24th. Also, Adult is playing at Safari Sam’s the same day.

  11. Posted by V. 2/14/07 at 11:47 am # Reply

    Good tips here– thanks everyone.
What’s the source on Art Brut @ Troub, Frank? Seems like a step back from 2 Fonda shows.

Pitchfork has the Art Brut Troubadour confirmation on their site: http://pitchforkmedia.com/article/news/41143/Art_Brut_Tour_UK_With_Maximo_Park_North_America

Also, The Presets went on sale TODAY! If you haven’t seen them at Spaceland, Cinespace or their opening gig w/ The Rapture, then you’re missing out! The tickets are $15 (W/ the fees, just under $20). Get them before they sell out! http://www.ticketweb.com/t3/sale/SaleEventDetail?dispatch=loadSelectionData&eventId=114142

Word Frank. Now that Coachella is SOLD OUT in record time, you can spend that money you were going to spend closer to April to get those tickets and use it on these cool small shows that we’re getting all of a sudden. No more regrets from missing out on good shows people.

  15. Posted by Oscar 2/14/07 at 1:26 pm # Reply

It’s Roger Waters time again at The Hollywood Bowl June 13th for those who need their Pink Floyd fix.

  16. Posted by Frank 2/14/07 at 2:13 pm # Reply

-Word on the street is that LCD Soundsystem will be playing in L.A april 26. The night before Coachella.
Where???? your guess is as good as mine. Us Losanjelous-ino’s will have to wait and see.

  17. Posted by fa 2/14/07 at 3:20 pm # Reply

Tunng coming all the way from the UK to the echo 3/18

If LCD play, Glasshouse is the obvious guess. El Rey is booked that night. Isn’t The Fonda also a GV venue?

  18. Posted by V. 2/14/07 at 3:23 pm # Reply

LCD+band playing OR just James DJing? He already has a DJ date in LA on 4/29, location TBA. They’re great but let’s hope they’re not the “secret” Glass House pre-Coachella show. Let’s start the ridiculous rumour that Interpol and Arcade Fire are playing it and maybe we can psychically will it into reality. Hell, if Pixies and Radiohead can be the surprise a couple of years ago (RH pulling out last minute due to Thom’s voice), then this one is easily doable.

Don’t want to lose indie street cred…
    -retraction-

    V. is right. James is doing a DJ set on the 29th
and no LCD on the 26.
Sorry to all you North American Scum

fyi y’all…Coachella tix are still available for Friday, though Sat., Sunday and the 3-day pass are all sold out.

Using the Sean Lennon Anaheim show as a precedent, the Stooges announced two San Fran dates (4/19 & 4/21), so expect an L.A. date to be announced soon. Interestingly, the Stooges tour is being promoted by Starry Knights Off-the-Chain E5ents and will feature a DJ set by the Egyptian Lover in select open-minded cities.
