Heard on Morning Becomes Eclectic, there’s gonna be a Paul McCartney secret show this week in LA sorta like the NYC club show a couple weeks ago. More details tomorrow according to Nic Harcourt.
Nice! I wonder where at? Looks like the Fonda is free on Thursday, and the El Rey has a few spots. Anywhere else he could/would play?
Wolf Parade is September 13 at the el rey. the 15th is at the glasshouse.
The Editors play The Wiltern September 24th. There should be a pre-sale in the next 2 weeks. The Bravery also have a show at The Wiltern September 14th. The presale for that show is tomorrow at 10am.
Thanks, D– corrected it.
Editors also doing Jimmy Kimmel Live July 26 (day after my bday…feel free to send gifts). Request tix here http://www.1iota.com/event.aspx?p=0&eid=3089
i just read on AP that paul mccartney will be playing amoeba on wednesday.

wilco will be playing at the tonight show with jay leno on aug 30, if you’re in la its time to request those tickets! (for those who want to see them again after the greek theatre show!)
Bleh, I wish Macca were playing a real venue *remembers being denied entrance to The Shins Amoeba in-store*
I agree. I hate wasting time standing in lines for stuff like this. My age is showing, maybe.
I agree too. In-stores at Amoeba are marred by bad sound and the fact that Amoeba employees are not security guys, so it kind of goes to their heads when they’re asked to keep people in line, and they turn into total assholes. This could have been a fun circus, but instead it’ll just be a circus.
If you don’t want to wait in line, K-Earth 101 is giving out a pair of tickets every hour for the Amoeba show.
i work in the amoeba area and on my way to the office i could see that there are people in line already!
Wow. First it was the White Stripes, now this. It’s good to be unemployed or on summer vacay in L.A. — you can camp out like a homeless person on the sidewalks of Hollywood and get a chance to catch a free show! :P
My friend’s sister went to the White Stripes in-store last week and she was actually able to get in and get a good spot up front even though she arrived maybe a couple hours before the performance started. I guess in the end they let in almost everyone there.
So umm anyone…let us know the color of the Amoeba wristbands =P
Paul McCartney had specially-made wristbands in NYC — they might use those. :?
I was going to try and do some “shopping” at the same time but they’re actually closing the store early for this night. :(
Anyone interested in seeing the Editors show at The Wiltern, there’s a fanclub pre-sale going on. You can also buy tickets along with their new album at the same time!

I think KEARTH stopped giving away the wristbands. Been listening for an hour and their next ticket giveaway is for Frankie Vallie @ The Kodak Theatre. I went back to listening to KCRW and they’ll be giving away 5 pairs of wristbands tomorrow.
To members only though. Hopefully you paid up your membership!
I was thinking the same thing Jenn. NYC got both of these shows w/o half the hassle. The White Stripes played a midsize club venue instead of an instore and the Macca show was announced much closer to the date – none of this two days on the street stuff.
I’m sure it’ll be great for whoever gets in – but I have a job to be at.
OMG! Clap Your Hands Say Yeah with Elvis Perkins playing 3 nights at the Troubadour! 9/18-9/20!

Thank goodness we have something else to talk about besides how annoyed we are about the McCartney thing. Maybe we could talk instead about how those CYHSY dates exactly overlap the busiest three showgoing days of the year, with Amy Winehouse, The New Pornographers, the White Stripes, and Arcade Fire/LCD Soundsystem all that same week. They say it never rains in southern California, but it pours, man it pours…
Ah crap, just noticed that too! Well no way am I gonna see White Stripes @ The Forum so that’s one less choice.
Here’s the pricing for Arcade Fire/LCD Soundsystem:
Ticket Price:
Garden – $50.50
Terrace – $50.50
Super Seats – $41.00
Bench – $41.00
Not too bad, huh?
Well, it’s the first time that Garden/Terrace seats are in my price range that’s for sure!
I was expecting more of a difference between Garden and Bench prices though.
Has anyone seen Frank? Donde estas??
He is handling some Summertime Business He’ll be gone to November.
Oh, that’s right, with Wyclef! He’ll be gone till November then.
Damn, the National were good tonight. “Daughters of the Soho Riots” was the highlight of the set for me.
LOL
Anyone want Arcade Fire Seats? Go to their pre-sale ASAP!

There’s everything as of now.
Funny, I logged in to the pre-sale at 10 and garden boxes were sold out. Still scored a terrace box. Gotta love the prices. Anyone know if this is considered a special event where you can’t bring drinks into the bowl, or is it an official bowl show?
I randomly got garden box seats for an hour or so after the presale start time. But I’m stupidly holding out for pool circle seats.
Hey Shenny, I’ll take your garden seats if that happens.
I don’t think Pool is popping out for the sale. I would just get the Garden Seats.
It’s a lease event, I am fairly positive. Gotta smuggle the liquor.
I’m kinda surprised at how slow the presale went. I expected a really slow response for the bench seats at $41, but I thought people would spring on $50 Garden seats. Crazy.
Oh darn. Maybe I should have snatched those Garden Seats. Oh well, there’s always the Ticketmaster sale or CYHSY @ The Troubadour or New Pr0nographers @ The Fonda.
Actually…I just look at the Bowl calendar, and it’s probably going to be classified as a “Special Event” like the Decemberists, Rufus, and Bright Eyes shows. That would make the most sense.
It’s New Pornographers for me. If it’s hard to get the crowd up in their seats at the Greek, I can only imagine how the Bowl will fare.
Anyone know if pool seats will pop up for Bright Eyes? They’re showing as $75 on ticketmaster (cheaper than Garden).
You’re always going to have a problem getting people hyped just short of running up & down the aisles getting people riled up like at The Pavilion at Dodgers Stadium. L.A. is laid back. Some people would rather just kick back and enjoy the music. It’s their right as ticketholders. The same right people getting up, dancing really bad and mubbling the lyrics.
Yup, which is why I’m going to catch them @ ACL Fest earlier that week and passing ‘em up @ the Bowl to see New Pr0n instead.
Girl Talk, Dan Deacon @ Echoplex on 9/28
Thank you so much Jenn, I’ve been waiting for a long time to see when these tickets go on sale.
You’re welcome, Robert! :)
Bishop Allen, Page France, Castledoor @ The Echo on 7/31
Dang, pool seats available for Arcade Fire (thanks Renee!).
was anybody able to score pool cirlce tixs?? been trying for freakin ever now….
Got a pair of Pool Circle tix. Now need to figure out where Pool Circle D is…
Spice Girls reunite!
http://www.spicegirls.co.uk/blog/
Yup, for 10 Mil w/ a private jet for each. The bar is set then! I’m sure it’s going to take more than that for The Smiths now, lol.
