…next thing you know, you’re talking to Lothar the German bartender, putting $2 into the jukebox even though you know you’ve passed last call and know you’ll never hear your selections, and talking to some crazy guy who’s just casually mentioned to you and your friend that he’s been both in the military and to prison. It’s that kind of place.
…I still can’t get a grasp of what is going on in this place. I saw a lot of aging drunk ladies and nondescript guys watching sports. Based on the stage, I think there are live bands that play there on the weekends, but I couldn’t find a calendar anywhere.

Sarna’s was evidently just like that before it closed and reemerged as Saints & Sinners. I wonder what will happen to this, the other half of west Palms’ diptych of divey-ass dive bars.
BTW, this is in Palms, not Venice. Venice is three miles west.
Thanks for the pre-emptive correction, Pete. However if you will re-read the article I purposefully omitted any city label. To correct your correction, Venice is mentioned by street, not city.
I think I subconsciously inserted “Venice, CA” in there because the previous Frank Stallone item placed Rae’s there.

Hi Guys that was the first gig we played I thought it was fine played before 15 thousand people in Boston last Saturday. Band will get tighter but that comes with playing. Thanks to all the folks that came out I will be playing around town a lot now days. I started in Jan of 1965 and I’m still having a blast F— the Movie Business. Cheers Frank
