LOSANJEALOUS (Losanjealous) :: Behold yon exclusive magick captures of Ye Aulde Frank Stallone Band mounted firmly atop miniature stage, dive bar of downtrodden variety, Palms, California. Next stop for the band: Boston. No joke!

Big ups to reader Creepy Dan who heeded the call, made the gig, got the shots and in the process won a 3-cd prize package from the Losanjealous music library.

Full review by Creepy Dan and more depressing photos after the jump.

I alerted some like-minded wingmen & headed to Rae’s, which rang true to the previous description. There may not have been any other Losanjealous readers in attendance, to say the least. Most patrons seemed like regulars, including the guy slowly stewing himself in Budweiser, never taking his eyes off the Dodgers massacre, even when Mr. Stallone strode to the stage. Frank & band launched into some blues, then back in time for selections from “Stayin’ Alive” (yes, he did “Far from Over”). We were also regaled with a song Frank claimed was rejected from the “Rocky Balboa” soundtrack, his umbrage apparent. At one point, Frank remarked to the crowd that Rae’s reminded him of places he would play when he was “starting out” . Before the band took a break, he warned things would “get crazy” in the second set. The craziness entailed sloppy cover tunes (forgetting lyrics to “Sunshine of Your Love” was a highlight) and some hamhanded band banter. Nonetheless, Frank was in good voice, and the band was competent. A thoroughly bizarre & entertaining evening.
