unfortunately, people owning ‘indie’ hip hop stores probably shouldn’t be mentioning, or care about for that matter, what nas or 50 cent or anything of that nature in the South, top 40 bullshit.
literally, who cares?
and who defines an album’s success by radio play?
who the fuck listens to radio? you’re a web-based publication interviewing indie-shops, so why would you even devote so much space to what radio success defines as ‘hip-hop’? it’s like you’re riding an anachronistic self-stroking rollercoaster. further, who cares about common or talib?
no, i’m serious.
who the fuck cares about what they have to say?
the majority of their shit is not really even ‘conscious’ right now; it’s just stale 1994 bullshit.
it’s the equivalent of any musician spouting anti-bush sentiment. who cares? it’s so played out that it would take an amazing wordsmith/mc to make me give a shit [see: none of the emcees listed in this interview].
get on anything else, just not this. waste of time.

OK, I think this explains the confusion about The Smell. Not to mention the confusion within hip-hop. The Fat Boys LP in the bottom picture is pretty cool, though. Disorderlies was awesome because I remember it had some nudity and was PG. Man, those were the days.
