Goddamn, Karen, these are so sublime. How was Black Rebel?

Second photo is breathtaking! Also because I think Wayne is dreamy for an older dude.

BRMC was a little underwhelming. (I’m not really a fan, though, I must admit.) They’re one of those bands it’s weird to see in broad daylight. Sherru, it’s Wayne’s salt-and-pepper curly hair that kills me. It always looks cool!

Wow, is that Wayne Coyne inside a bubble, walking on the crowd? And are those people dressed as Santas and aliens on the stage? Was there an appearance by a small hand puppet singing about someone named Yoshimi? I can’t imagine ANY of those things happening at a Flaming Lips concert.

I thought the day was extremely monotonous. The parking lot was really small and there wasn’t much to do between the main and side stage performances. Which in turn left us pretty bored. We didn’t think throwing a bag of sand into a hole was all that interesting.

Most of the “local” acts on the bill weren’t that great. With the exception of Scarlett Symphony…I think that’s what they were called. They had the crowd jumping.

My friend and I sat in three and a half hours of traffic which made us miss Galactic, but we heard they were sub-par. B.R.M.C. were pretty good, but I’ve seen them a bunch, so I found myself just wandering around during their set. To me, the best show of theirs I’ve seen will always be their acoustic benefit at Spaceland.

Z-Trip was annoying as ever. Talking way too much and mashing together whatever you would’ve probably heard on 94.9FM during that hour he was on stage. A lot of Zep and Beasties. Peppered with some Public Enemy, Rage, and bad sing-a-long’s to guilty pleasure filled 80′s tunes.

The Lips were just that. The Lips. If you’ve seen them once, you never need to again. Unless you’re escorting a friend to their first time and you get to relive the experience through them. Don’t get me wrong, they are quite fun, but please, mix it up a bit. Wayne’s rants and raves about Bush and the war were in full effect, of course, and it was quite interesting seeing drunken navy knuckleheads swaying and stammering as they tried to grasp the words that were coming out of his mouth. They didn’t. Thankfully they puked and left. Bless their hearts.

It was nice being in San Diego for the day/night. Good to hear some free music. But I hope I never have another SoCo for the rest of my life. I can still taste it….bleh

I will never forget the BRMC benefit at Spaceland. Such an amazing show. Wonder if anyone recorded it.?

I don’t think anyone did. I scoured the web for awhile after and nothing came up. Supposedly there were some cameras, but I don’t remember seeing any.
