The show was completely under-rehearsed, and while Belinda seemed nervous, Rufus did his usual “aw shucks” wander through the evening(which was truly irritating).

That said, I thought the band was fantastic and that Belinda clearly outshone Rufus…not to be expected. Her vocals were pretty stunning.

Finishing with a Go Go’s song in French, however, was lame.

Jaytee & eBay: I too wished that I could hear Rufus sing a few more songs. It seemed like they tried to fit in as much as possible under the circumstances. If you remember Belinda handed the mic to Rufus directly and the show continued – there really weren’t any long breaks.

Great show! i had one of the best New Years Eve’s thanks to Belinda Carlisle. after making such a great cd with “Voila” i thought i would never hear them sung live. monday night i got the chance and let me tell you that she is a true legend. her vocals are in fine form and the can sing french song’s as if the are something she has always done. the band was amazing too and with her voice the songs came alive. i felt like i was in paris. thank you for such a great review and for the photos. viva la carlisle!

Thank you for the great review. i for one loved the show. from where i was Belinda Carlisle got a standing ovation. she really can sing in french. the song’s were amazing and much better sounding then on the cd. she sounded in great voice and “Avec le Temps” was for me the highlight of the show. people all around me just had these great smiles on there faces all night as did i. i hope she does more shows. Rufus was ok..not bad but ok. he was funny but for me the show was all belinda.

I can’t believe that you are so generous with your accolades of this show. I thought the show was a joke. Rufus sounded amazing. Belinda seemed out of her league with the French classics. They both seemed unrehearshed with rather amateur performances and stage presence. We thought the same about the dancers.

In addition, I assumed that, for the money, this show would’ve gone longer than an hour and 20 minutes. We were very disappointed.

i cant believe that i have not read any negative press on this show. it was a disaster. carlisle’s voice is clearly not strong enough to sing classic french songs, the show ended after only 1 hour & 15 minutes, and the much-hyped finale was a GOGO’S SONG. ridiculous, especially since most, if not all, were there to see rufus wainwright. hardly anyone around us clapped at all during the show, and at dinner downtown afterwards, i heard other theater-goers griping about the show. as for myself & my 3 companions, we were terribly let down to have paid $90 each for a show that clearly was not rehearsed at all. a disaster.
