Our colleagues over at CBS2.com present a delightful and informative photo slide show, A Day With Jackie Johnson, the Southland’s favorite weathercaster (sorry, Fritz!), Jackie Johnson.
You see Jackie Johnson every night on KCAL 9 News, but her weathercast is only the end product of a hard-days work. Here you will get a glimpse of what goes down before Jackie goes on the air.

Jackie has no time to sit at her desk and catch up on e-mails; she has to get ready for the cameras… first the hair.
Jackie says she usually does the curling at home… unless she’s running late.
Now it’s on to makeup, which begins with a layer of base.
Bet you thought we were done! Nope, now powder is brushed on over the foundation.
After a few final touches, the rollers come out and Jackie is ready for TV. But…
Analyzing the data, Jackie chooses the models she believes to be the most accurate.

the southland’s favorite weather person is indra petersons at abc7. she does the weekend morning weather and is delightful. dallas raines is a total hack.
Jackie is the most accurate and most articulate wx person in the LA area, and I am a former Air Force meteorologist so have a basis. But Jackie, on tonights 9/28/08 9 pm wx cast with a discussion of Gustav, complete with a correct counter-clockwise rotating icon. However you later showed two additional trop depressions in the south Atlantic, and the icons for both were spinning in a clockwise rotation. A BAD snafu! Depressions are low pressure areas and the windflow is cyclonic, or counter-clockwise.

Thanks for doing such a great job bringing us the weather. You seem genuinely friendly and cheerful. Also, I think you are one of the classiest looking ladies in the media I’ve ever seen. Nothing vulgar about the way you present yourself. Your fiance is a lucky man! Be Blessed!!

Another example of Barbie dolls doing the news and weather…I would bet they care more about their hair,make-up and outfits than they do about the news and weather…10 to 1 they check out the other “girly-girl” news and weather forcasters on their competition to see what their wearing as well….my opinion… “model types” doing the news is nothing short of a joke…get “real types”,that actually care about the news when they’re “off-the-air”
Oh!!! I forgot one more thing…getting pampered in make-up…..sitting at a computer all day looking at schematics from the “National Weather Service”…A hard days work? you must be kidding..tell that to someone who works in construction….the only real hard work was her agent landing her this cake job… get real
