Live simply means making the music with instruments, not playing the songs off of records.

whatever. i think guns and bombs is a lame, too.

Erin. Nice review.

I wasn't there, but it sounds like snarkster is right. There is a difference, although software such as Ableton Live is definitely expanding the gray area.

No disrespect to my friends at Goldenvoice, but the El Rey sucks in every possible way. The last time I was there to review a show a security guard practically picked a fight with me over my protest of the venue's ID-swiping policy. I didn't want my personal address sucked into whatever industrial-marketing vortex was involved here. Suffice to say, I won't be going back unless the promoters allow me to enter with out the swipe.

Kids: Avoid the swipe! Just say no.

Out of curiosity not snark - what is the difference between a live set and a dj set?

sounds like you didnt 'get' the opening act, also digitalism were not using turntables, they were using drum triggers and other midi controllers hooked up to laptops. It was LIVE not a DJ set.
