so i saw destroyer at the troub last night after a way-too-long personal live music hiatus, which hiatus had me just totally ready for some good stuff and i probably would have thought a mediocre show was the best thing ever, and it (the destroyer show) completely and totally sucked. “destroyer’s rubies” is an all-time fave and the new album is ok but the show just sucked sucked sucked. bejar and his group of like ultra-indies have no stage presence or personality whatsoever, his rhythm section is the worst thing ever (whereas on “rubies” it’s actually pretty tight), the sound sucked, the whole set was the new album. just total suckage.
curious if anyone else was there and reactions. i think i’m gonna go see dethklok at the wiltern next which hopefully will be better. but what a disappointing return after like four months of not seeing any shows.
