Wow — some petty little ayatollahs here, dontcha think, DF? You'd think Camper would draw a more veteran crowd: I didn't think anyone over twenty-five still did the pissing contest about who's "hardcore" and who's a "poser."

I dunno. I don't go to concerts so I can come back home and tell my friends Hunter S. Thompson stories (it's been done, and done better). I just like the music. I suppose that leaves me out of "the vibe." Thank God I've got other things going on.

Anyway, big props to Camper for playing a great set, for throwing the Campout, for letting people come and go as they please (it's not Guantanamo, after all). And thanks to DF for making the trip and writing it up. Don't let the nine-year-old skateboarders get you down, Brother.

Thanks for the sensitive and heartfelt observations. I am not sure what "being in the dessert" means, but it certainly sounds delicious. And I have never had anyone (or at least, anyone male) express so much concern about where I slept. It's very sweet, and much appreciated.

As for the rest, I'll add only that if there are formal or informal rules governing exactly how and for how long one must undertake a music- or art-related pilgrimage to the high desert, I hope to remain blessedly unaware of them.

Fucking seriously...it's called Campout for the love of god. Also, talking about "hallucinatory gargantuan" imagery while falling asleep in the car at 11:42pm instead of being in the dessert awake with a head full of actual hallucinogens is pretty weak, and better reserved for the likes of Metromix. This is yellow reporting Los Anjealous. Also, the venue is way weirder than that description. Send this kevin kid next time

You didn't camp? You didn't see Cracker? You did not experience the Campout. Next year, bring your tent. Or have me cover the event.
