I remember that Newberry's store in the early 1980's when I was little. A good friend of the family worked at that Newberry's from the time she graduated high school in the 1940's until she retired. I still see her sometimes, now in her 80's. It's now a Blockbuster Movie Rental. In the foreground where the woman is standing has been Vons as long as I can remember. I think it was Safeway that far back. This shopping center is at the corner of Borchard and Thompson Blvd. in Ventura, CA. I just wish I could go back in time and buy all those cars in the parking lot! =) Thank you for sharing a great picture. I love mid century modern buildings.

You should have taken a picture of the "now" version and posted it along with the original. (Presence of mind, I know, but on an assignment like this you really should have brought a camera.)
