Troubador is far better. Spaceland is not even in the same league. The sound is much better at the troubador. You can’t even hear the whole band at Spaceland because they have the bass up so loud it mutes everything else out. They are on different sides of town and I live in between them, but if I was on the east side I would just go to the echo.

Does Spaceland give free ice water like the Troub? Hardly any interesting non-local acts come to Spaceland anymore now that the Echo/Echoplex monopoly is hogging them. Troubadour is hurting too, but they still get more epic shows.

Troub does have corn dogs at the Soul Kitchen… Spaceland has formidable cheap Big Beers on tap!… troub has parking… spaceland has no phone signal thus no pointless hassles during the gig… troub has balconies… spaceland has glass-cased smokeony…

Glad to see this item raised. NBC is so proud of this dumb survey they even ran a TV spot for it during Poker After Dark. But the question is inherently flawed because the two venues are too vastly different aethetically and culturally to be directly compared. This is really not a question of “Best” but a question of “favorite”. (Which would be the Troub for me.)
