A Tribute to the Key Club
In tribute to their closing–yes, we know they say they’ll be back, but who knows–Losanjealous is proud to present a compilation of all four three [Secret Machines & The Dears were the same show--Ed.] awesome shows the Key Club hosted which Sung covered over the years. We’ll have more about this forthcoming Rolling Stone restaurant at Hollywood & Highland once we get a look at their appetizer menu but let us just say they have a long way to go to replace the Key Club in our hearts.

Official Lakers Shannon Brown for 2010 NBA Slam Dunk Contest Campaign Headquarters
By Victor - Thursday December 03rd 2009 |
There’s actually a fair amount of interest in making this happen, a petition floating around out there, and even a pretty damn slick dedicated website, letshannondunk.com, so let’s see if we can help get even more momentum behind the cause.
We’ll try to roll out some highlights and see if we can’t do our small part to make this a reality.
For starters, a look back at this crazy flush on Golden State’s Mikki Moore back in October:

KRTH-FM Knocks KISS-FM Off #1 Radio Spot
By Victor - Thursday December 03rd 2009 |
Even though it’s really just one corporate, commercial entity swapping places with another corporate, commercial entity (neither of which I really listen to often) somehow this comes across as a feel-good story. K-EARTH with its all-oldies playlist takes down KISS and its Top 40 rotation. If it helps to put some faces to this battle, think of, say, Katy Perry losing out to, say, The Beatles. But the result probably says more about the remaining audience of FM terrestrial radio–how old they are, how many hours they sit in their cars per day, etc.

Yes! Lamborghini Opens Fashion Store in Topanga
By Victor - Thursday December 03rd 2009 |

PHOTO: AP shot of a Lambo caravan in Santa Monica yesterday, grabbed from the Telegraph.
Guys! How often have we watched jealously out of the corners of our eyes as some cool guy sporting sweet Lamborghini gear at the club is winning over the ladies with his style while we stand there muttering to ourselves like chumps with our Dockers and our Coors Lights? Am I right, fellas? Meanwhile, Mr. Lamborghini is holding court at a back table with a bevy of ladies with his Lamborghini polo shirt, Lamborghini sunglasses and Lamborghini driving gloves on, indoors, at night. Ladies can’t HELP but to come over and flock to the Lambo logo. Where does he get that cool gear? Italy?!
Now, finally, we too, can get our own Lamborghini gear at the new Automobili Lamborghini Boutique at Westfield Topanga shopping center, reports JustLuxe.com. Just wait until I hit up the club with my Lamborghini cap, Lamborghini sweater, Lamborghini lanyard around my neck and pull out $15 from my Lamborghini wallet. Oh, it’s ON!
You can check out a selection of the Lambo goods that are available over at the Lamborghini online store if, for some reason, you may not be headed to Topanga today.
Imagine yourself in this sexy 97% Cotton, 3% Spandex button-down number:

Silversun Pickups Pick Up GRAMMY Nom for Best New Artist
It’s pointless arguing with the GRAMMYS nominations and winners; they never get it right year after year (see: U2′s bizarre nomination for “I’ll Go Crazy If I Don’t Go Crazy Tonight” as Best Rock Song, for example). So we just pull out of the mess whatever’s mildly interesting. Our local Silversuns getting a new artist nod is great, even if it stretches the definition of “new” a bit. Here’s their competition:
Best New Artist
(For a new artist who releases, during the Eligibility Year, the first recording which establishes the public identity of that artist.)

Full list of all nominations is here.
I’m sure we’ll have more to discuss we digest the full list. For sure we have to say something about the Best Pop Performance by a Group or Duo category that puts Bon Jovi up against MGMT up against… Hall & Oates.

New Free Learning Music Monthly December Release: Concept Album Based on the Only 3-way Tie in the History of Jeopardy!
Passing along some fun, free, streaming and fully-downloadable listening from Learning Music Monthly.
LMM 2.10 – The Greatest Event In Sports History
From the liner notes:
On March 16, 2007, a great thing happened in Culver City, California. For the first time ever, all three contestants of the game show Jeopardy, without ending in a score of zero, tied. At the time, at least two incorrect interpretations of this event were made; one being that it was a chance occurrence, the other that it was caused by mistake.

The Curious Palate, Mar Vista: Cute
By Victor - Wednesday December 02nd 2009 |
One senses that “cute” is the prevailing adjective used when describing this Venice Blvd. place and its food. How much “cute” does for one, if anything, is subjective obviously. On this visit, my cute “Sub Italiano” ($9.95) and cute cold quinoa side salad didn’t do much for me beyond look cute on the plate. The bread was soft, I’ll give them that. A couple of things this place has going for it (besides the aforementioned soft bread and the cuteness) is the self-refillable coffee and access to free open Mar Vista wi-fi.

Laker Taco Tracker–Last Night’s Result: 110-99 Over Hornets,Tacos Secured
For the eighth time this season, the Lakers won at home while holding their opponent under 100 points–barely so–110-99 over the Hornets–a feat which, as everyone knows, means a coupon good for 2 free tacos from Jack in the Box to all fans in attendance. (Hey, when you’re pounding on weak teams and games turn to garbage time, you’ve got to keep yourself interested somehow, be it focusing on intriguing individual match-ups, such as Jordan Farmar going head-to-head with former Bruin teammate Darren Collison, or watching for Shannon Brown to take flight and posterize someone, or holding out for two lousy, free 99-cent tacos.)
Graphic photo of said 99-cent tacos and an ingredient list below, if you dare.
