RECORD STORE DAY: SATURDAY, APRIL 16th

FOO FIGHTERS HEADLINE RECORD STORE DAY WITH IN-STORE ROCKSHOW AT FINGERPRINTS IN LONG BEACH, CA!

BAND TO RELEASE MEDIUM RARE, COVETED COLLECTION OF COVERS ON RSD AND EXCLUSIVE TO PARTICIPATING STORES

Long Beach, CA: On Saturday, April 16th, RECORD STORE DAY, one of the country’s most loved and integral independent music retailers, Fingerprints will play host to one the world’s most beloved rock bands, Foo Fighters.

“I’m proud to be a part of Record Store Day. I grew up discovering music that changed my life in record stores like Fingerprints and will always do everything I can to keep that experience alive for generations to come,” says head Foo Dave Grohl.

Foo Fighters @ Paladino’s, 6/19/2007At present, the Foo Fighters’ “White Limo” tour is winding down, the namesake car, driven by legendary Motorhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister in the band’s “White Limo” video, having headed across the country stopping at indie record stores, radio stations and other cultural touchstones to introduce fans to Wasting Light, the new Foo Fighters long player to be released on April 12 on Roswell/RCA. The following weekend band members Dave Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett and Pat Smear will celebrate Record Store Day with the release of a special Record Store Day exclusive piece, Medium Rare— a vinyl-only compendium of the Foo Fighters’ arsenal of classic cover tunes to be made available only at Record Store Day participating stores.

Medium Rare is a must for every serious Foo Fighters fan who’s thrilled to the band’s versions of Paul McCartney & Wings’ “Band On The Run” recorded at Abbey Road, seen them bust out Pink Floyd’s “Have A Cigar,” Gary Numan’s “Down In The Park” or Mose Allison’s (by way of The Who) “Young Man Blues” in live sets over the years, or scoured the digital and physical worlds for their versions of Husker Du’s “Never Talking To You Again,” The Ramones’ “Danny Says” or Gerry Rafferty’s “Baker Street.” Medium Rare marks the first and only time all these and more have been compiled in one place, along with previously unreleased versions of Thin Lizzy’s “Bad Reputation” and The Zombies’ “This Will Be Our Year.”

As a big bonus to fans and a loving nod to the indie record stores, Foo Fighters are set to roll into Long Beach to perform on the Big Day at Fingerprints. The set will undoubtedly include tunes from Wasting Light and Medium Rare and store owner, Rand Foster couldn’t be more thrilled: “Record Store Day has quickly become both an annual celebration of the indie record store culture and a day to revel in the glory of unique physical goods. We are extremely proud to host a special Foo Fighters’ in-store for this year’s event; their 2011 covers album is a classic example of a great RSD exclusive. We are excited to be part of this year’s RSD event, and happy to help keep the spirit of the record store going all year round.”

There will be a limited number of wristbands available, with pre-order of Wasting Light, at Fingerprints beginning Monday (4/4) at 7:00pm. Wristbands will only be available in person at Fingerprints. This is limited to the first 200 customers. There will be no email or phone sales.
