…next thing you know, you’re talking to Lothar the German bartender, putting $2 into the jukebox even though you know you’ve passed last call and know you’ll never hear your selections, and talking to some crazy guy who’s just casually mentioned to you and your friend that he’s been both in the military and to prison. It’s that kind of place.
…I still can’t get a grasp of what is going on in this place. I saw a lot of aging drunk ladies and nondescript guys watching sports. Based on the stage, I think there are live bands that play there on the weekends, but I couldn’t find a calendar anywhere.

The week was rife with challengers, friends. Rife, I tell you! We’re actually looking at a three-way tie, and once again content reigned over crappiness. First up is the inimitable Frank Stallone Band™ playing a riveting (assumed) set on the miniature stage inside Culver City’s Cinema Bar last Sunday. Frank can be seen to the LEFT of the ghostly apparition:

LOSANJEALOUS (Losanjealous) :: Via the anonymous tip wire today comes the as-yet-unconfirmed news that Frank Stallone (brother and esteemed sparring partner to the one and-only pudding-slinging thespian Sylvester) will rock the UnUrban Coffee Shop on Pico Boulevard Tuesday evening, July 10, with full Frank Stallone Band™ in tow.
The anonymous inside source also advises this will not be the first time the Stallone-infused grouping will have mounted the miniature stage at UnUrban of late, having last taken the wee stage June 26. The band was further spotted at Cinema Bar in Culver City last weekend, in part of what appears at surface to be an extensive tour of the tiniest stages on the west side of Los Angeles. Catch the act now while it’s still being polished: Come Labor Day, Stallone takes the dogs and ponies all the way to Atlanta for Dragon Con.

The most recent meeting of the Losanjealous Board of Directors took place at Frankie and Johnnie’s Pizza, west Sunset Strip. If you’ve never been to Frankie and Johnnie’s, you should know that all manner of celebs and pseudo-celebs have markered up the walls with quasi-witty aphorisms about pizza accompanied by quasi-legible signatures. While you sit and longingly caress Mandy Moore’s name, a sign near the cash register keeps the peace by advising “DO NOT SIGN THE WALL WITHOUT PERMISSION.”
We scour the walls now over beers and penne pizza, searching for the most absurdly foolish name in sight. Who’s been here?!?
