We Are Now Following on Twitter
By Ryan - Tuesday August 24th 2010 |
We are now following on twitter. We have had an account for some time now but, you know us, we tend to follow our own path so we do not really follow. But now, we are following somebody.
This week’s twitter follow winner is NORWOOD YOUNG. Congrats Norwood, we’re hanging on to your every 140 characters for seven full days and nights. We may agree with you on twitter. We may retweet one or more of your tweets; we may laugh-out-loud at your tweets, time and again.
To have Losanjealous follow you, simply follow and mention @losanjealous in one of your tweets this week. That will give you a chance at being followed by Losanjealous for seven whole days. That’s it; gotta run and check Norwood’s feed and respond appropriately if need be. Later.

On The Scene at the Santa Monica Food Truck Lot, Day Two: Lot Closed Down by City of Santa Monica
By Ryan - Tuesday January 05th 2010 |
Mayhap you saw the tweet by Victor already, live at the scene. If not, let it be known that the Santa Monica Food Truck Lot is, at present, closed, the issue being that the lot’s zoning language does not explicity state “food truck use”. New language will need to be added and approved before the trucks may begin doling out those cute, tasty, cute-and-tasty and occasionally neither-cute-nor-tasty sub-$10 meals to aficionados of the westside gourmet lonchera scene.
Certainly not the first time The Man has clashed with a conglomeration (coalition?) of food trucks in our fair city. Anybody remember 5750 Wilshire Blvd a few months back? Stick around for full details as they trickle in. Meantime, solidarity tweets may be directed here: @SMFoodTruckLot

On The Scene at the Santa Monica Food Truck Lot Opening Day

Over at the vacant parking lot at
14th St. and Santa Monica Blvd. India Jones, Border Grill, Barbie’s Q and Fishlips are the first to set up shop. The lot could probably accommodate 8 trucks at the expense of some customer parking spots. Could probably not handle the dozen or so listed on their flier all at once.

Deep fried samosa spring rolls from India Jones. $3.00. Best item consumed today.

Border Grill tacos, pork & potato, $3.00 & $2.50 respectively. Slightly above average tasty, but tiny and relatively overpriced. Reliable as they may be, going to have to file away B.G. truck into the Overpriced & Cute category going forward in ’10. Not going out of my way for their meals on wheels when the restaurant is always an option.

Rolls from Fishlips. Decent 6-piece sampler, probably priced about right at $5.95. F.L. was the least busy truck around 12:30 or so.
Will probably be back again to see how this project unfolds. The ambitious plan for the location is Monday-Friday, 11am-8 pm. A couple of picnic benches would be great. Would be fun to see some pricing battles between the trucks for customers’ dollars if this takes root in the area long term.

Official Blip Status: BLIPPING
By Ryan - Monday April 27th 2009 |
Lately I’ve been passively experimenting with the Blip.fm website which is, from what I can tell, sort of an amalgam of twitter and seeqpod. You set up a Blip playlist, which people can subscribe to if they so choose. You are then urged to ‘blip’ (aka tweet) some sage words at the time you ‘blip’ (aka play) your song as a part of your playlist. Got all that? Interesting idea; user library could of course use some work but there are creative files and filenames to be found out there just the same (eg., “Besourus” = “Beatles”).
As of press time since 13 April 2009 the Losanjealous Blip has accumulated and/or doled out:
- 6 props
- 4 listeners
-
22 credits
-
34 Blips
That’s fine, just fine. So who’s a power blipper out there? Anyone? What the hell do I do with all these stats and credits, and how might I maximize my enjoyment of their website (and/or my own vis a vis their tool)? Please feel free to remit all tips, encouragement, C&Ds and hate mail to the official Losanjealous Blip account and/or [email protected]. Right now I’m the sole LJ broadcaster boasting a whopping 2.4 songs’ average output per day, but who’s to say you don’t end up with an hour from Victor, Sung or one of the gang, one of these days Yes La Verne I Am Staring Directly At You.
Give it a go and see what I’m doing right…or wrong. I’m off to research getting my own Sirius and Li’l Radio Shows, pronto.

Are You Following the Right Kogi?
By Ryan - Friday March 13th 2009 |
Your camp maintains the phony twitter feeds from washed-up celebrities, movie characters and inanimate objects are the jokes of yesterday. Our camp disagrees, cut from the cloth of the devout followers of John Kreese (as scripted by Paul Scheer). Still, we sit and sup daily, side by side on twitter, unequivocally agreeing that tweets from the Kogi BBQ Truck occupy a special, indescribable, sacred place within the psyche of today’s wired Los Angeles foodie. Things have been more or less balanced within the kogiverse, once we accepted and acknowledged that fact. When Phony Kogi showed up on the playground one day and thousands of people begin following his feed, we had questions, naturally. Are all of the thousands of followers in on the joke, over at fake Kogi feed? If so – or, more importantly, if not – where did they come from? The legitimate Kogi feed has less than 9,000 followers at press time. Where and how might a lawsuit be filed, based solely on text characters? Would that be defamation of text character? (“They used our trademarked capital “L” trick, so we sued for infringement…”) And just what is Phony Kogi’s beef, is he sick of the overhype of the original Kogi? Disgruntled ex-employee? Jealous competitor? Just bored? How long until Phony Kogi gets pulled? Will he get pulled? Are there twitter police? What twitter expert out there can tell me how this stuff plays out, or if it does? Help. Also, who cares. Let us all enjoy a hand-picked basket of tweets from Phony Kogi at this time:
