LA Concert Calendar: October 17 – 23

By Ron - Monday October 17th 2005

Visit our concert calendar for a full list of shows, links to buy tickets and our picks.

original gangstas***Recommended Show of the Week***
Gang of Four @ Avalon
It seems like every band who was heavily influenced by Gang of Four is cashing in. A Franz Ferdinand song is featured in a Sony commercial, Bloc Party is in a Target ad and even Radio 4 got paid by Mitsubishi. See the original gangstas at the Avalon on Thursday or roll the dice and fight your way through INXS reality TV fans at the grand opening of the Hollywood and Highland Virgin Megastore Monday.

Archeture in Helsinki moved indoors, upstairs from the store to rain. Since about 6 people will be there, maybe you can sit in with them on tambourine.

AIH were neat-o in the indoors with the rain out the window. Better than heads-up-7-up at your desk.

Don’t forget Bright Eyes @ Santa Barbara Bowl this Sat 10/22. Only So Cal show because they (he) refused to do any Clear Channel venues. Gotta respect that.

We usually just list shows in LA proper, but you’re right we should list this since it’s their only socal appearance.
