L.A. Concert Calendar: February 27 - March 5

By Ron - Monday February 27th 2006

Visit our concert calendar for a full show list, links to buy tickets and our picks.

Pick of the Week: Yeah Yeah Yeahs @ Troubadour
Yeah Yeah YeahsForget for a second that the Troub screwed us over by making it impossible for the average Joe to get tickets. And that the YYYs will mostly play tracks off an upcoming album that you’ve never heard before. And that they’ll be back in April for Coachella. This is a rare chance to see a great show at a small venue. Do what you need to do.

I think the YYYs might be the ugliest band this side of Nickelback, perhaps even Motorhead. Their drummer is just your average Mediterranean-looking schlub, but Karen O? More like Karen “OHMYGODMYEYESAREBLEEDING!” And someone needs to get Nick Zinner to switch from tobacco to marijuana so he’ll get the munchies once in a while. Dude looks like a Holocaust victim.

Ah the Cornmo. An awesome show.

I’m gonna be at the Low show on Friday. Look for a good-sized clump of white hipsters with facial hair and/or glasses…oh, wait.

Anyone care to wager who the Rose Scharlin School benefit “very special surprise guests” are? Its $20 so it’s gotta be a decent draw. Perhaps someone booked for Coachella who can’t advertise an upcoming performance?

  5. Babydoll : 3/1/06 at 3:04 pm

Isn’t Michael Penn dead? Why is he on this concert calendar?

  6. Ron : 3/1/06 at 3:08 pm

    ouch. RIP, Nice Guy Eddie.

  7. Emma : 3/2/06 at 12:23 pm

Heads up on your heads up — Matisyahu will be at Tower Records in Northridge (not on Sunset)…

  8. Ron : 3/2/06 at 12:35 pm

Thanks Emma–looks like they changed venues or listed the wrong venue initially. Updated on the calendar.
