Beefcake Babylon @ drkrm
Beefcake Babylon includes original movie posters and memorabilia from all over the world, a large collection of stills of the men who played Hercules during the height of sword and sandal craze, and rare provocative “classic physique” photographs of these musclemen at their peak as professional bodybuilders, long before the siren of the movies beckoned. Opening Reception Friday, July 14th 7-10pm Through Sat 9/23.

Episode 1: My Dog Benshi @ Betalevel
Writing their own scripts, Benshi often interpreted silent era films to fulfill their own desires. Film was found footage; narration was subversive; the movie an elaborate backdrop. Every other month, Da Benshi Code will bring together writers, musicians, artists, and actors who, like their 20’s counterparts, will take back cinema!

Jacob Magraw-Mickelson @ GR2
Jacob Magraw-Mickelson’s hyper detailed, pastel-tinted world is dense with humans, animals, and emotions. Using mixed media, Magraw-Mickelson dissects the world into chunks, chips, and photos, putting it back together with precise lines and lettering. The effect of his work is equally scientific and surreal. Through Wed 8/16.

Luke Chueh and Bergamot Invasion II @ Copro Nason
Luke Chueh solo show and group show of artists curated by Cannibal Flower and Copro Nason. Through Sat 8/12.
