Losanjealous Benevolent Society Events: July 14 – 20
The Losanjealous Benevolent Society gathers a weekly list of strange happenings and fun events in LA–the more ridiculous, the better. Visit our events calendar for the full list. And if you’re organizing or know of an event you think belongs on the list, send us info at email@example.com.
Beefcake Babylon @ drkrm
Beefcake Babylon includes original movie posters and memorabilia from all over the world, a large collection of stills of the men who played Hercules during the height of sword and sandal craze, and rare provocative “classic physique” photographs of these musclemen at their peak as professional bodybuilders, long before the siren of the movies beckoned. Opening Reception Friday, July 14th 7-10pm Through Sat 9/23.
Game Show Congress 5 @ Burbank Airport Hilton
Practice your competition skills, view rare show footage, see 3 live staged shows, witness a Tic Tac Dough reunion, visit with some of the top contestants of all time, and see in person Wink Martindale, Monty Hall and many other stars and industry movers and shakers. Through Sun 7/16.

Cinespia: The Big Sleep @ Hollywood Forever Cemetary
Bogie stars as one of the most entertaining and unforgettable detectives in Hollywood history. Bring blankets, drinks and picnic dinner for this special screening below (and above) the stars. DJ Chris Curtis spins before and after the screening.
Episode 1: My Dog Benshi @ Betalevel
Writing their own scripts, Benshi often interpreted silent era films to fulfill their own desires. Film was found footage; narration was subversive; the movie an elaborate backdrop. Every other month, Da Benshi Code will bring together writers, musicians, artists, and actors who, like their 20’s counterparts, will take back cinema!
Jacob Magraw-Mickelson @ GR2
Jacob Magraw-Mickelson’s hyper detailed, pastel-tinted world is dense with humans, animals, and emotions. Using mixed media, Magraw-Mickelson dissects the world into chunks, chips, and photos, putting it back together with precise lines and lettering. The effect of his work is equally scientific and surreal. Through Wed 8/16.
Luke Chueh and Bergamot Invasion II @ Copro Nason
Luke Chueh solo show and group show of artists curated by Cannibal Flower and Copro Nason. Through Sat 8/12.
Night Vision @ MOCA
NIGHT VISION: MOCA After Dark presents 15 Saturdays of exciting programs including artmaking, screenings, groundbreaking DJs, live music, spoken word, guided tours, and a cash bar and light fare at Patinette Cafe during Robert Rauschenberg: Combines. Featuring Cut Chemist and DJ Sloe Poke.
Entrants sought for this urban scavenger hunt/fundraiser. It’s a Long Beach event like TV’s Amazing Race. All entry fees benefit charity. Bring your cell phones and laptops. You can only use public transit buses or your feet to get around during this event!
Spin Off Regionals @ Guitar Center Hollywood
39 tuntablists have advanced from an original pool of over 1,500 DJs and survived months of fierce competition to advance to this prestigious level of competition. Of the 39 semi-finalists, seven will battle in LA in hopes of advancing to the grand finals.
Yoshihiro Tatsumi & Adrian Tomine @ Hammer
