“You guys are very quiet,” Lykke Li sternly told the audience. Actually it was the loudest crowd I have ever experienced at Hotel Café. The packed house grew restless as the night went on, huffing and puffing in anticipation between songs, drowning out any of the usual noises of clanging dishes and silverware from the back of the bar. But even though this was her first time on HC’s tiny, dimly lit corner stage, maybe she knew this. Her stripped-to-the-elements songs and her frenzied dancing had total command over the crowd. She fits the definition of today’s musical triple threat: great song downloads and entrancing YouTube clips, translating into exciting live performances. Have I been overhyping her this year? A little bit, but that’s because you guys are so quiet
