Clap Your Hands Say Yeah Ticket Pre-sale

By Victor - Friday January 13th 2006

CYHSY CDYour favorite band ever Clap Your Hands Say Yeah is playing the El Rey on 3/23. Say what you will (and you know you will) about the music, the buzz and whether or not the singer actually sings, these guys are commendably raging against the corporate music industry machine when they can. Firstly, the well-documented no record label thing. Then the “No Thanks” to The OC. And now comes a coordinated Ticketmaster-circumventing ticket pre-sale.* Then again, they have already performed on bombmaker General Electric’s TV propaganda arm, NBC, and will surely succumb to that corporate festival, Coachella. So I guess what I’m saying is that they’re sell outs, big fat fucking sell outs. $19 a ticket ain’t too bad a price though.

*UPDATE 1/16/2006/0930h: Pre-sale & regular TM tix sold out. Keep an eye on the El Rey site for possible the release of more tix. Thanks for the tips, B & Spike.

*UPDATE 1/18/2006: All tickets, all gone now. Thanks for the word, Oscar.

Be sure to check out Craigslist for tickets as we did when they came through town previously. Surely you can score a ticket with ass, grass or cash.

What now?

I thought you couldn’t play Coachella if you played a big LA show within a couple months before the festival, with more leniency being given to smaller bands. El Rey is pretty big. Oh shit, I hope this doesn’t mean that Metric won’t play. I remember how the Yeah Yeah Yeahs weren’t allowed to play because they did the Henry Fonda Theater in March.

Jesus they are already sold out. When did LA get this hip? The shows gonna be like Wolf Parade. A bunch of people who dont like the music bitching about the people who are dancing and singing along.

i totally commend their biz savvy and attitude, but the singing…aaargh..inhuman.

No, not sold out–probably. The NYC kids also are decrying a quick sell out on presale tix to their gigs, so the consensus is that a very small number of the total tix went going through this. It appears that the El Rey site is also fixin’ to sell ‘em. I’ll get a link up when it’s live.

Geez, you’d think these guys were the Arctic Monkeys!

If Clap Your Hands Say Yeah were the Arctic Monkeys, there would still be tickets available. Arctic Monkeys have plenty of tickets left for some reason, they went a sale the day before Clap Your Hands say yeah. Guess nobody knew or nobody cared:

Oh well, guess it’s time to stop being a slave to hype and go see a good band. The Metric and Islands show at Henry Fonda isn’t sold out yet.
