Portishead WOULD have been nice, but I guess they’re still in the studio…

Underwhelmed maybe because alot of these bands were in L.A. recently.

    Tool? I second that Victor……

Well, you have to consider what bands are available this year, and of those, how many actually want to play. Believe it or not, bands turn down Coachella offers all the time. If that’s the case with Sufjan Stevens and Broken Social Scene, yeah, I was hoping for them, then fire them into the sun.

There’s more than enough good acts playing to make the trip worth it, as always.

Enough good acts to make the trip worth it, sure. But are there enough on that second day to make it worth staying? This might be the first year I drive home on Saturday night.

(Granted, Dungen is pretty awesome, though.)

No Morningwood?! There must be some mistake!!

Good spot, Kristine. Digables have been out of the game for, what, 10 yrs? Need to dig out Blowout Comb. Wonder how it’s held up.

    and

Rumor is there’re still several bands TBA, so keep yr finger’s crossed, Tiffani.

Jethro: definitely. Tool, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Bloc Party, Sleater-Kinney, Mogwai, Wolf Parade, Metric, The Dears are all awesome. There are others that are fairly good or I’m curious to check out (better do some downloading tonight) like Seu Jorge, The Go! Team, Art Brut, Dungen

Thank God there’s no Morningwood. Scissor Sisters and Coheed & Cambria are horrible but I guess that’s a good time to be at another stage.

Art Brut are going to make you all giddier than schoolgirls doing whippets. Seriously.

    Additional remarks:

    1. Matt Costa does not deserve to be there. I saw him open for Built to Spill in ‘04, and I don’t think I’ve ever heard such contrived, sorority-girl-aimed pseudo-earnestness in my life. Just plain vomitorious.

    2. If anyone wants to do a “Shoot Matisyahu Like a Dog in the Street” fundraiser, I’ll gladly pitch in at least $100.
