Culinary Musings: Cafe 50s
By Mair the Intern - Tuesday February 07th 2006
Cafe 50s: one of my favorite places to go on the westside. i’m not sure if it’s cuz of the food or the fact that you can play games while you wait. the milkshakes are way good and the food is decent. i’ve enjoyed everything i’ve had there and also all the fun times. sorry scott, i don’t remember eating there with you two years ago, i think you imagined it.
(Sorry folks. No address or contact info. Hell, why not, sorry scott, too. -ed.)

It looks like there’s more than one Cafe 50s:

i remember the one on lincoln and didn’t realize it is still there. i went there a few times oh, maybe 10-12 years ago and it was fun and had the appropriate amount of kitsch. food was indeed “decent,” tho not spectacular. frankly, what i remember most is that there was a cute waiter…hence, return visits. keys to a good restaurant: flirty wait-staff and adequate parking. i think ultimately, i preferred cafe 1750s.
A bunch of my friends take advantage of the offer they have, whereby you can eat free on a certain Wednesday night each month if you are wearing old-fashioned flannel pajamas. Strange place.
i’ve only been to the one on santa monica, but the nuart. i actually wrote this elaborate piece in 2001 when i was a sophomore. and i still don’t remember eating there with scott, but he described the night so clearly that he must have been there.
