PICK OF THE WEEK: Tokyo Police Club @ The Echo
Goddammit what is up with bands naming themselves after cities they aren’t from? Of Montreal is not from Montreal, Forward Russia is not from Russia, and Tokyo Police Club is not from Tokyo. But on a positive note this new trend could signal the end of “wolf” band names. See Tokyo Police Wolves at The Echo Sunday night.

Anyone have any info on the Flaming Lips/Gnarls Barkley on 12/31 at that treacherous university?
Sun 12/31/06 Los Angeles, CA Univ. Of Southern California

Yeah, FREE w/ your USC ID. If you try flashing your UCLA ID, you will be jumped although an L.A. Trade Tech ID is also acceptable…..
Wait…. Pete Townshend? HUH? Is this Pete Townshend from Silverlake or like THE Pete Townshend?
The Fray at the Troubadour on sale now!!!
Uhh, $40 for the Fray? Maybe if Nickleback will be there with Creed as support. The Fray show is for that Star 98.7 benefit show, right? Good times.
Are benefit shows allowed to be listed? ‘Cuz then there’s KCRW’s December benefit show w/ Cold War Kids, The Like… and uh, et al. I forget.
Jenn,
The Losanjealous Concert Calendar Selection Committee has a meeting this Wed. in the Sandalwood Conference room at the Marina Del Rey Courtyard Marriott. I will get this benefit concert matter on the agenda for sure.
Cold War Kids are awesome. Same with the Like! That Cold War Kids show you brought up is FREE from what I know. Unless there’s another show I know nothing about, which is rare. LOL No worries on Nickleback or Creed playing that show w/ them.
Oscar: Yeah, I enjoyed seeing The Like too, when they opened up for Muse/Strokes back in September @ Davis. However, I think you’re thinking about the Orphanage/Matt Maust gallery-opening one. The one I was referring to is the 2006 Gimme Shelter Benefit, which isn’t free.
Why do I think this LCOTM thang has gone to Oscar’s head?
LOL =) Thanks! I think I will hit up the KCRW benefit.
I’m rooting for Jeanette & her Neuticles for the next LCOTM! Good times.
Can non-USC students get into that Flaming Lips/ Gnarls Barkley show for a fee? Where can we find more information about this?
My sources are saying $55.
The Flaming Lips / Gnarls Barkley
December 31 / USC Galen Center / Doors: TBA / $55 / On Sale 11/12 @ 10 am
More information following the Losanjealous Concert Calendar Selection Committee meeting this Wed. in the Sandalwood Conference room at the Marina Del Rey Courtyard Marriott.
Thanks Ryan. I actually didn’t know it cost anything. I was just playing guestimating “this hearts on fire” was from UCLA and just jiving her. =P That looks like a good show though.
Oscar,
Unfortunately, the algorithm disqualifies me from COTM status as I work in the Losanjealous highrise. Until the algorithm is perfected, it unfortunately also disqualifies employees of tenants Belarus Embassy and breastpump.com.
hEY “this hearts on fire”! Heads up! There’s a pre-sale for that Flaming Lips/Gnarls Barkley show starting today. The presale password is “eve”. Ticket are $55 but there’s a $10 surcharge is you’re paying with a UCLA (Current or Alumni) Visa/Mastercard. Good luck!!
Opps, forgot to mention the USC Gnarls/Flaming Lips tickets are through Ticketbastard. Peace out!
Red Hot Chili Peppers have a “secret” show tomorrow @ The Roxy for the Zune release. You need a “free” ticket they gave out at Circuit City in Hollywood on Friday to get in. Good times.
Heard about it. Did the Chili Peppers really need Microsoft’s money that bad? Kinda sad.
Doesn’t seem like it. It must have been a big amount to get them to promote the IPod’s “competition”. We’ll see how Zune catches on.
Red Hot Chili Peppers are set to tour with Gnarls Barkley in “early 2007″, so I doubt money was the main motivation. Maybe they’re doing this for the free Zunes? I’d be iffy to invest money in that as well, even just to try it out. (I loves my 3rd generation iPod. I do.)
