By Ron - Friday November 24th 2006

losanjealous benevolent societyThe Losanjealous Benevolent Society gathers a weekly list of strange happenings and fun events in LA–the more ridiculous, the better. Visit our events calendar for the full list. And if you’re organizing or know of an event you think belongs on the list, send us info at tips@losanjealous.com.

FRIDAY

Goodiepal Musical Event of Some Kind @ Machine Project
We had the best of intentions of taking this week off, but then our friend Luke of Lucky Dragons convinced us to have a show on Friday by Goodiepal

MacHomer: The Simpsons Do MacBeth
This one-man extravaganza features over 50 voices from TV’s favorite dysfunctional family in a hilarious performance of Shakespeare’s bloody tragedy. Through Sun 11/26.

Moscow Cats Theater
I loved it. It was better than Cats. I will see it again and again. Through Sun 12/3.

SATURDAY

Cannibal Flower
Group show and performance. Featured artist: Ron Dunn. Live performance by Relic.

Pasadena Confidential
Tour the tree-lined avenues of the Crown City as we peel back its genteel veneer to reveal the decay, nightmares and horror beneath.

Stoogefest
A collection of five classic short subjects cherry picked from the Columbia Pictures’ vaults by our blue ribbon panel of Stooge-o-philes.

Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut @ Fine Arts Theatre
Superman II will delight fans who, for years, have been imploring Warner Bros via voluminous numbers of petitions, letters, phone calls and e-mails to release the Donner cut.

WEDNESDAY

Charles Phoenix’s Retro Holiday Slide Show
Experience how we decorated, dressed up, dined, drank and smoked during the holidays in the 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s. Through Sat 12/30.

THURSDAY

David Carradine @ Book Soup
David Carradine presents and signs The Kill Bill Diary: The Making of a Tarantino Classic as Seen Throught the Eyes of a Screen Legend.

Michael Apted @ James Bridges Theater
Q & A with director Michael Apted to follow screening. 49 UP is the seventh in a series of landmark documentaries.

Steve Wozniak @ Central Library
Steve Wozniak in conversation with Martin Kaplan, Associate Dean, USC Annenberg School of Communication.

Great post, a wonderful reference. I have freinds in New York who look down their noses at L.A. as far as cultural to dos. Blogs like this disprove it.

For more cultural doings and discussions check out my blog!

My God, he’s still doing MacHomer? I saw it about 6 years ago and it wasn’t that great then.
