Losanjealous Concert Picks: April 15-22

By Victor - Monday April 16th 2007

PICK OF THE WEEK

Art BrutArt Brut @ Troubadour
What, you were expecting Klaxons? I don’t know why everyone’s going on about Klaxons. Klaxons this, Klaxons that. Me, I’m not convinced yet. Art Brut, on the other hand, are not the next new anything. They just turn out songs with memorable lyrics and actual tunes, which is more than you can say for far too many groups today.

Yeah Oscar…I noticed that too!! A friend did get Section A, Row E for Tuesday’s show. I had to type the friggin’ hard-to-read password two times and that cost me! Anyone noticed the fine print?

Premium seating for this event will be subject to specific “WILL CALL ONLY” restrictions…These tickets are also subject to a two ticket limit and may only be picked up at the venue box office by the ORIGINAL PURCHASER on the evening of the performance. In order to pick them up you will be required to provide a government-issued photo ID and the credit card used to make the purchase. Upon picking up the tickets the original purchaser and guest will be required to directly enter the venue. Please note that THESE TICKETS ARE NON-TRANSFERABLE AND WILL BE VOIDED IF RESOLD. PREMIUM SEATING IS ONLY AVAILABLE THROUGH PHONE AND INTERNET.

Keep trying. It is not sold out. The system is parsing out the tickets in batches. I just pulled a Sec B center seat at 10:32.

Yeah whattup with that presale??? I did manage to get one in Section A Row E too but on weds! AND i just noticed that fine print now. Hoping to score another 2 or at least one in sec A and maybe seat swap. Seems to be MUCH more demand here than up in Nor Cal.

It definitely started late, but I don’t think it sold out immediately…I got told there were no tickets 3 times and then on the 4th time I got a set for Section B row B. I’ve given up trying to figure out how/why TM does things.

Does anyone know if tonight’s Bird and The Bee show at The Derby starts at 7:00 pm or 8:00 pm. I keep seeing conflicting times on the internet. Thanks!

  6. Posted by Oscar 4/19/07 at 11:13 am # Reply

What’s wrong w/ Wednesday? Are people ordering 1 or 2 tickets? I can see that it’s probably easier to score 1 ticket VS a pair

  7. Posted by shenny 4/19/07 at 11:30 am # Reply

Nice thing about the NoCal Greek Theatre is it’s all general admission. I was trying for only one ticket because I wanted the best seat possible and cuz I have no friends. Gonna try my luck on Saturday’s sale.

  8. Posted by Oscar 4/19/07 at 11:40 am # Reply

I’m also trying Saturday. I might even go to the Greek to try my luck. I have some friends going to Berkeley for their Saturday show.

PLEASE DON’T GIVE UP ON NICKELBACK GUYS!!! USE YOUR SOURCES AND PLEASE POST!

  10. Posted by Oscar 4/19/07 at 12:24 pm # Reply

We’re not giving up on Nickelback. You got to kick back on the Caps Lock kid.

  11. Posted by Tommie Moonshine 4/19/07 at 12:40 pm # Reply

I got word from a reliable source that the Nickelback secret show is just a rumor. I think we can rule out a pre coachella show. maybe a post one perhaps? I could be wrong (ive been known to be) but dont get your hopes up.

On a good note. To see JUSTICE in that basement would be unreal!!!

Feist w/ Grizzly Bear opening @ The Wiltern 6/29. Also at the Belly Up the next night.

  14. Posted by Oscar 4/20/07 at 11:43 am # Reply

Yo Frank! Where are you buddy? Did Nickleback kidnap you and gagged you so you wouldn’t spill the beans about their secret show? Holla!

  15. Posted by Jenn 4/20/07 at 12:52 pm # Reply

Maybe he’s already enjoying the show ;)

There are2 Super Secret” guests on Safari Sam’s 1-year anniversary. Maybe it’s that? =/

  16. Posted by Oscar 4/20/07 at 2:12 pm # Reply

Maybe, Nickleback doesn’t have any shows scheduled then.

  17. Posted by Tommie Moonshine 4/20/07 at 2:58 pm # Reply

that would be sweet! if it was the SS 1 yr. I believe carlos has dj’d w/ Franki Chan at some parties before and they friends so this doesnt seem too far fetched

There’s also an open date for Troubadour on the 29th that doesn’t say “Closed” like it does for this Sunday. Hmmm….

  19. Posted by Frank 4/20/07 at 3:38 pm # Reply

yes Oscar Hmmmmm. Well I can’t spill the beans, but you know everyone here will be the first to know!
Oscar, you going to Klaxons tomorrow?

  20. Posted by Jeff 4/20/07 at 3:49 pm # Reply

doesn’t look like this has been posted on Losanjealous yet:

KJEE’s Seaside Beach Ball featuring Chris Cornell, Queens of the Stone Age, Sum 41, The Bravery, Plain White T’s, Shiny Toy Guns, Silversun Pickups, Cold War Kids & more.

Same night as Moz at the Bowl. Ventura County Fairgrounds. On sale now. Iggy not rumored to appear with Sum 41.

  21. Posted by V 4/20/07 at 4:31 pm # Reply

Thanks, Jeff. But this show, with that lineup, way up in Ventura, did not make the cut at the last Losanjealous Concert Selection Committee (LCSC) meeting (Wed 6-8pm, Sandalwood Conf. Rm., Marina Del Rey Courtyard Marriott). Sorry. Malibu is about as far north as the Committee generally will allow unless it’s something really out of the ordinary, such as a rare Rage appearance in San Bernardoo.

Ok Guys a little detective work leads me to believe that one of the special guests for the Safari Sams 1 year is going to be The Teddybears! Franki is opening for them night after at the el rey. The stars are aligned for the swedes w/ big teddybear heads to invade silverlake.

  23. Posted by Oscar 4/20/07 at 6:23 pm # Reply

I dunno about going to the Klaxons just yet. I want to go, but it’s a last second decision on my krews part. I only live 10 min away so maybe! I’m glad you’re not held hostage kid! I’ll be at the Greek scoring some Linkin Park though =)

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know that the Knitters show (Getty, May 19) sold out in less than an hour on Thursday morning. Pissed me off.

  25. Posted by charlie 4/21/07 at 10:06 am # Reply

i am having major trouble with TM this morning for the AF greek shows. anyone else?

  26. Posted by Tommie Moonshine 4/21/07 at 10:25 am # Reply

At first that AF sale was whack. you only could choose pit tickets, which sold out immediately. then the other options popped up when u refresh. I managed 2 PIT tickets! Pure Luck. and 2 in section B for my friends. Hope everyone else did ok.

  27. Posted by nessa 4/21/07 at 10:32 am # Reply

I also luckily scored pit tickets, but they are reserved seats and not general admission, AND it seems that they are going to be mailed to me–did anyone find that they could not get their tickets mailed?

  28. Posted by shenny 4/21/07 at 10:45 am # Reply

I got a pit ticket too and selected the mail option. We’ll see if it gets mailed. It looks like reserved seating since I got a row and seat number. But not sure if they do that to keep track of the tix or if they’ll actually put seats in the pit (hope not!)

  29. Posted by Tommie Moonshine 4/21/07 at 10:54 am # Reply

Seats in pit would be so whack! I also got a location #. Has anybody heard of any show w/ seats in there? Anyways, I think once you get your email confirm it will tell you that you have to pick them up at willcall. At least thats what happened to mine.

  30. Posted by V 4/21/07 at 11:03 am # Reply

Well done, Losanjealenos! If anyone was going to snag pit seats I knew it would be our peeps. I’m sure we’ll hear how Oscar did going down to the Greek box office.

  31. Posted by shenny 4/21/07 at 11:10 am # Reply

    Wonder how Oscar did too…

I’ve seen some shows with seats in the pit, usually for acts aimed at *ahem* “older” audiences. Here are some examples from EBAY:
    2) CELTIC WOMAN 5/5 GREEK THEATRE
Tony Bennett Greek Theatre Los Angeles, CA LA
2 Stevie Nicks / Chris Isaak Tickets, Greek Theatre, LA

  32. Posted by Oscar 4/22/07 at 10:20 am # Reply

I ended up not going to the Greek, but my friend went when she couldnt get tix on Ticketmaster and got some good seats. I’m sure they still have some. Tickets tend to sell out slower at the venue than Ticketmaster. She showed up at noon BTW. Also, even though you choose mail, it doesnt mean they will. I actually got the mail option for Deimos and then got a call a week later that they messed up and they were moved to Will Call per the website instructions. I did get tix for Arcade Fire Wednesday. Me very happy.

Seats in the Pit for AF wouldn’t be so whack. Do people really want to mosh for any of the shows? I have gone to a show at the Greek w/ seats in the Pit. It wasn’t bad. At least it’s a place to rest between Electrelane & AF sets.
