M.I.A. @ Echoplex, 7/30/07

M.I.A. @ Echoplex, 7/30/07

M.I.A. (real name Maya Arulpragasam) made her Los Angeles return to the Echoplex last night after encountering visa complications last year. Other than several festival dates in the U.S. she’s only playing a handful of shows and two of them are in L.A. That’s right, the demand here was that frenzied. More than one thousand people crowded outside the venue in hopes of getting into the already full Echoplex. She performed songs from 2005′s Arular and her new release Kala. Three lucky fans were invited on stage to dance with her and you better believe they broke it down. Catch her again tonight at the Echoplex.

I love that the first thing you see on this post are boobs.

I think Ms. Arulpragasam needs to start booking bigger rooms. Could she fill Avalon?

I got in last night from pre purchased tickets.. The line outside was insane. She went on just after 10:15 and the set lasted at best an hour. She rocked the Echoplex… Good luck for tonight!

how do you get pre-purchased tix. thought they were only on sale at the door?

  9. Posted by Oscar 7/31/07 at 2:32 pm # Reply

They went on sale last week. Twice. That’s not even counting when they went on sale when she was scheduled to play Grand Union Station.

I also had pre-purchased tickets and I bought them as soon as I got the spaceland email. I’m not sure how likely grabbing tickets will be but I believe the wait was long. There is no opening act, instead there is a dj set. Good luck to all x

I saw M.I.A. at the Glasshouse 2 years ago, and last night’s performance was soooo much better. I mean don’t get me wrong, the Pomona show was AMAZING, but last night was just wild. I was soaked afterwards.

Anyone have pictures available online that we can check out?

I saw MIA at Coachella 2 years ago, or was it 3 years ago, can’t remember. But, this show was amazing!!!

I was there last night(1st night) and it was the perfect example of how LA does it best. MIA was phenomenal and the pictures above definitely sum up my experience. Sweaty and crazy.

Can’t wait to see her again.

Love her songs, but if you notice hard enough, she has stretch marks on her legs, doesn’t matter, I’d still hit that from the back.

Shit, man, I’ve got stretch marks.

Thanks Mike. Like we (or MIA) give a fuck what you’d “hit”.
