Last fall Blonde Redhead kicked off a Southern California outdoor festival trifecta of sorts at the LA Weekly Detour Festival. This was followed by a tremendous performance at Coachella Valley Festival in April. The latest stop for the band in support of 23, Sunset Junction combined outdoor music with amusement rides and community participation, separating itself from the other walloping festivals. Kazu Makino, Amedeo and Simone Pace performed energetically, with fervor, and differently than the other festival performances I’ve caught. As they walked off Kazu blew kisses to the large crowd and hesitated to leave the stage before blowing more, and finally departing. Blonde Redhead performs with Midnight Movies at the Glass House tonight.
As the photographs accompanying this picture make clear, the artists pictured herein are neither blondes nor redheads as promised. Please be apprised that deceptive advertising practices and false designations of origin amount to violations of the federal Lanham Act, policed by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and punishable by fines, waterboarding, and/or aggressive tickling. Please be further apprised that “I’m about to pee my pants” is not, repeat NOT, a means to clemency from aforementioned tickling.
Strong points, DF’s lawyer, but you don’t have any proof for Amedeo and Simone Pace’s hair as they’re both in black and white.
Oh rest assured that while this documentary evidence may prove too little, further discovery is underway. Witnesses will be subpoenaed. DNA will be tested. Depositions, however gratuitous or superfluous, will be taken. Thundering cross-examination will produce shattering spontaneous confessions. Truly, this will be protracted litigation. Perhaps even more than my false advertising suit against “The Never Ending Story”.
