The official Concrete Frequency writeup offers a hint of what to expect at this evening’s final Concrete Frequency I performance:

From the bright lights to the dark alleys, music has allowed city dwellers an outlet for their joy, urgency, depression, and heartache. Whether it’s a lighthearted pop song or an elegy of isolation, come inside to hear the walls of the city sing.

So what’d you guys think of this show? For those that didn’t make it out: M Ward joined Zooey, Van Dyke Parks joined Inara, and Stevie Jackson somehow convinced five of the other performers to join him for a song about an “electric box”

Truly blown away! It was amazing to hear such a variety of musical styles in one evening. Biirdie joining Stevie for “Electric Box” was great. Kind of wish there had been more of that collaboration through the night. I wasn’t familiar with Annie Stela prior to this, true talent there. It’s hard to say who I was most impressed with, but Kyp Malone’s close of the show was haunting and probably the most representative of “Songs of the City” for me. Wouldn’t it be great to have someone organize more showcases like this!?

I was there for Sondre Lerche and he was fantastic as always. It was nice to see M Ward with Zooey Deschanel, I wished they could’ve done one more song. I also liked Biirdie, Zach Rogue, Inara, and Stevie Jackson. Wasn’t Sean Lennon originally listed for this thing?

yeah, sean was originally on the bill (and still on the bill according to flavorpill yesterday – for shame); he was removed and Kyp was added. Pfork was the only other place I saw mention of the change in lineup
