Brief Notes

• First official US performance of summer/fall tour following Pitchfork Music Festival, Chicago, July 19
• Stardeath & White Dwarfs opened and played “Borderline”, the Madonna cover recorded and released (video here) as a joint project by both bands earlier this year. (Both bands had taken to playing the song in the spring and early summer, sometimes together, with the Lips themselves having last playing the song live in late June according to this source)
• “Taps”, played with that freaky electronic bugle officially adopted by the armed forces to deal with the overwhelming number of funerals since the beginning of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, remains a staple of the live show some two-three years running now.
