Silversun Pickups Pick Up GRAMMY Nom for Best New Artist
It’s pointless arguing with the GRAMMYS nominations and winners; they never get it right year after year (see: U2’s bizarre nomination for “I’ll Go Crazy If I Don’t Go Crazy Tonight” as Best Rock Song, for example). So we just pull out of the mess whatever’s mildly interesting. Our local Silversuns getting a new artist nod is great, even if it stretches the definition of “new” a bit. Here’s their competition:
Best New Artist
(For a new artist who releases, during the Eligibility Year, the first recording which establishes the public identity of that artist.)

Full list of all nominations is here.
I’m sure we’ll have more to discuss we digest the full list. For sure we have to say something about the Best Pop Performance by a Group or Duo category that puts Bon Jovi up against MGMT up against… Hall & Oates.
