    [...] Given all this storied history vs. the state of the establishment in 2007, one begins to wonder how the Troubadour has kept its momentum for an even longer period of time (it opened in 1957) and has in fact become the venue bands such as The Strokes and The Killers turn to for those impossible-to-get-into, rock-and-roll-defining secret shows. Whatever happened to the Whisky? One could pose the theory that while both venues embraced the hair metal culture, one of the venues forgot to let go of said embrace. [...]
