I’m told bearded California composer Terry Riley™ launched the ‘Minimalist’ movement with the piece IN C in 1964. I’m further told his influence has been heard in the works of prominent composers such as Steve Reich, Philip Glass and John Adams and in the music of rock groups such as The Who, The Soft Machine, Tangerine Dream, Pete Wants Revenge and many others. But you already knew this.
On Monday, March 20, over 100 members of the CalArts community joins together to perform Terry Riley’s groundbreaking IN C at Walt Disney Concert Hall.
