Losanjealous Benevolent Society Events: April 14 – 20

The Losanjealous Benevolent Society gathers a weekly list of strange happenings and fun events in LA–the more ridiculous, the better. Visit our events calendar for the full list. And if you’re organizing or know of an event you think belongs on the list, help a brother out by sending info to tips@losanjealous.com.

FRIDAY

Notecard Event @ Machine Project
A spontaneous, on the spot composition and performance extravaganza. Attendees will be invited to compose performance scores on notecards (provided). Everyone present will then be invited to perform the scores. Please bring objects (musical or otherwise) that you feel may be helpful in performing your or other’s new creations.

DomCon LA
America’s premiere Professional and Lifestyle Domination Convention. Through Sunday.

rps4SATURDAY

Rock Paper Scissors Rumble 4
Does anyone have what it takes to defeat RPS3 Champion, Caine? Check out Caine’s training video to get a taste of what’s in store. NOTE: This is the epitome of what the Losanjealous Benevolent Society stands for.

The Optical Lounge and Audio Lab @ Create:Fixate

SUNDAY

Nightmares of Bunker Hill Crime Bus Tour
Featuring lively tales from the 1880s to the 1970s, Nightmares of Bunker Hill reveals the weird, old L.A. that’s not there anymore and the badly-behaved people who didn’t make the city great, but sure made it more interesting. Brought to you by the good folks at 1947project.

TUESDAY

I AM 8 BIT @ Gallery 1988
Annual group art show that aims to recapture that sense of wonder, enlisting the likes of 100+ world-renowned artists to paint, sculpt, and basically re-envision their favorite console/coin-op heroes or most intense old-school gaming memories, recalling those oh so fond moments from the era when pixels reigned king. Opening Reception 6-11.

WEDNESDAY

Wednesday Evenings with the Condors 2006
Help Condors in the wild by removing micro-trash from their playgrounds! Condors love to play with and swallow small trash, which ends up in food for their nestlings. Micro-trash clean up made a difference last year when the Sespe Sanctuary boasted it’s first successful fledgling in the wild breeding program. We meet in the Angeles NF for Condor Talk and then caravan to the work site. Bring your binoculars!

THURSDAY

Fast Times at Ridgemont High @ Skirball
As part of Cinema’s Legacy, a series presented by the Skirball and the American Film Institute, Judd Apatow screens Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

Mortified LA
Witness the show that stars everyday adults reading their most embarrassingly REAL childhood journals, letters, poems, lyrics and locker notes… in front of total strangers.

Join the Losanjealous Benevolent Society and we’ll send our events list to your inbox.
