PICK OF THE WEEK: Rogue Wave @ Safari Sam’s
Indie Rock Economics Time: What happens when five large venues compete for the same targetsupply and demand audience on the same night? Here’s what the lineup looks like Thursday night:

SHOW: CAPACITY
Rogue Wave @ Vanguard: 1200
M. Ward @ Fonda: 1200
Sonic Youth @ Wiltern: 2200
Wolfmother @ Palladium: 3500
Scissor Sisters @ Shrine: 4000
—————————————————
Total Ticket Supply: 12,100

The Rogue Wave show promoters recognized market dynamics and moved the show to Safari Sam’s, a venue with a third the capacity of the Vanguard. By decreasing the denominator in the Losanjealous Number (buzz/capacity), the Rogue Wave show catapults ahead of M. Ward to become this week’s pick.

Of course now you guys would be giving away tickets to a concert I already bought tickets for. Bummer!

In further market news, the Wolfmother show was pushed back to December 12 due to the arrival of a baby boy to the band’s bassplayer/keyboardist Chris Ross.

How were We Are Scientists and Art Brut? I had a ticket but my annual autumn respiratory infection chose to knock me on my ass this week.
