  8. Tina : 3/6/07 at 1:12 am

Anyone know anything about The Bravery show at the Troubadour?

  9. Oscar : 3/6/07 at 5:33 am

It will probably go on sale closer to the show date (March 21st) to deter scalpers. The closest posted date is the Galaxy show in Santa Ana. You can already buy those via Ticketmaster.

  10. Frank : 3/6/07 at 9:48 am

The National @ The El Rey 6/26
The View @ The Troubadour 5/8 Tiks on Sale 3/10

  11. Oscar : 3/6/07 at 10:35 am

Will Rosie O’Donnell be at the May 8th show? LOL

  12. Jenn : 3/6/07 at 11:04 am

Hmm… I thought it’d be “next to impossible” for The View to come over here. I guess they got a new lawyer.

  13. Oscar : 3/6/07 at 11:53 am

I’m sure Star Jones can front the band while Kyle is doing his time.

  14. Oscar : 3/6/07 at 1:24 pm

Os Mutantes is playing The El Rey Theatre July 13th.

  15. Frank : 3/6/07 at 3:26 pm

    Mastadon/Cursive/Against Me @ The Wiltern 5/1

  16. Tina : 3/6/07 at 5:15 pm

Thanks Oscar but why isn’t it listed on the Troub’s site. That day is just empty. I really don’t want to drive all the way to the Galaxy to see them!

  17. Spike : 3/6/07 at 6:51 pm

Oscar…are you serious about Os Mutantes?
If so, thats the best news this year!

  18. Oscar : 3/6/07 at 8:54 pm

Yup, that’s straight up from the horses mouth for Os Mutantes! That’s not a bad venue considering they sold out Hollywood Bowl last year. As for the Bravery, the Galaxy is a cool venue. They had accidently posted their whole tour, but then pulled back a few dates knowing that there would probably be a feeding frenzy on the tickets by scalpers. We’ll see in the next few days on the Bravery date.

  19. Oscar : 3/6/07 at 9:12 pm

Ok, what I dropped back in January 25th is now FACT! The Bravery will be playing the Troubadour March 21st. Tickets go on sale this Saturday at 10am. It’s probably anywhere between $15-$20. Check it out: http://blog.myspace.com/thescenestar

  20. K : 3/6/07 at 10:39 pm

Has anyone heard anything about the Elvis Costello show at the HoB on May 2 (?) that got mentioned on here a few weeks ago? I haven’t been able to find anything.

  21. fa : 3/7/07 at 2:35 am

Chances are that you will be able to fax the Troubadour your ticket request for The Bravery either on WED or THU if you want to avoid TM fees and make sure you have your tickets early. Troubadour newsletter will go out sometime Wednesday most likely with the info.

  22. Oscar : 3/7/07 at 10:03 am

There is a pre-sale today for the Bravery show at the Troubadour Tina. The same site as the Galaxy show.

  23. Oscar : 3/7/07 at 11:51 am

Ryan, this one is for you:

    Genesis @ The Hollywood Bowl
    October 12th, 2007

Genesis Unveil North American Tour Dates

Phil Collins, Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford of the band Genesis have unveiled the dates for the North American leg of their first tour in 15 years, kicking off at BMO Field in Toronto, on September 7th. The tour will hit 13 different cities across North America playing a series of arenas and stadiums.

“Genesis is absolutely one of the world’s most exciting bands of all time,” said Michael Cohl, tour promoter. “They have always been an amazing concert experience and I’m thrilled that fans will be able to see them perform again live for the first time in 15 years.”

Anticipation has been running at an all-time high following the band’s announcement last November to take the ‘Turn It On Again’ Tour to some of the biggest venues across Europe in the summer of 2007. Public response has been overwhelming, with many dates selling out quickly. The band will trek through Finland, Denmark, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, Poland, Germany, France, Holland, UK, Monte Carlo and Italy before heading to N. America.

Tickets will go on sale in Montreal and Philadelphia beginning Saturday, March 10 and in Boston, Chicago, East Rutherford, Hartford and Toronto on Monday, March 12. For additional on sale dates, official tour and ticket information, fan club membership and early access to tickets, visit genesis-music.com.

Tony Banks, Phil Collins and Mike Rutherford will be joined on stage by long-time Genesis sidemen, Chester Thompson on drums and Daryl Stuermer on guitar. Two of the world’s greatest show technicians, award-winning lighting designer Patrick Woodroffe and acclaimed set designer Mark Fisher are working on plans for what promises to be one of the most impressive stage shows to tour this year.

Genesis has sold over 130 million albums. It is one of a small group of elite British bands who have achieved global success and sustained it with a loyal fan base. Genesis was formed in 1966 by Tony Banks, Peter Gabriel, Mike Rutherford and Anthony Phillips, while still at school, but it’s most successful incarnation was the late 70’s early 80’s line-up of Phil Collins taking on lead vocals and sharing song writing, with Rutherford and Banks. The Duke album topped the UK charts in 1980 with the hit single, Turn It On Again monopolising the airwaves. In 1987, Genesis played sold out stadium shows across the globe, including four consecutive Wembley Stadiums.

This year, Genesis will be honored at the “VH1 Rock Honors” ceremony on May 24.

With the April 24 release of GENESIS: 1976-1981, Rhino Records debuts the first in a series of three box sets spotlighting 13 studio albums by one of the top-selling recording artists of all time. This 6-CD/6-DVD boxed set encompasses five studio albums recorded between 1976 and 1981, plus a bonus disc offered exclusively with this collection that gathers essential rare tracks scattered among the band’s EPs and b-sides.

  24. Ryan : 3/7/07 at 11:54 am

    !!

  25. Oscar : 3/7/07 at 11:59 am

The Bravery is going on sale Saturday to the public via Ticketmaster so faxing orders might not be available for that show.

  26. Tina : 3/7/07 at 3:20 pm

    Thanks Oscar!

  27. Oscar : 3/7/07 at 5:30 pm

I just got news that the Troubadour WILL be taking fax orders Friday. There will be no ticket transfers though for those of you thinking of scalping tickets. There’s also still pre-sale tickets available last I checked. In other news:

    Manu Chao
    June 2nd
    Venue announced soon

  28. Spike : 3/7/07 at 9:39 pm

Os Mutantes AND Manu Chao! This summer is shaping up to be ridiculously good…

  29. Frank : 3/8/07 at 8:31 am

    Shhhhhhhh……

DEIMIOS aka Mars Volta @ The Troubadour 4/2
    Tiks on sale today $40

(Thats the word going down the streets)

  30. Oscar : 3/8/07 at 10:09 am

Tickets for the Deimos show is WILL CALL only. No transfers either. Sorry scalpers. The Bravery presale is now sold out BTW. Thanks Frank!

  31. Oscar : 3/8/07 at 12:08 pm

Daft Punk @ The L.A. Sports Arena
    July 21st!

  32. Oscar : 3/8/07 at 1:44 pm

Hey Frank, how do you know Deimos is The Mars Volta? What street can I verify this buddy?

  33. Jenn : 3/8/07 at 2:16 pm

Deimos [DEE-mos] (panic) is a moon of Mars and was named after an attendant of the Roman war god Mars…. okay well that took care of the “Mars” part. Where’s the Volta?

  34. Oscar : 3/8/07 at 2:19 pm

OK, right now the Deimos sale is all wack. When you try and buy online, they only let you buy them if you have an international credit card. You can buy them on the phone and actually use an american credit card. That’s the only way till Ticketmaster fixes the online orders.

  35. fa : 3/8/07 at 2:32 pm

The Mars Volta tour dates look like this

    03/28/07
    Ventura, CA
    Ventura Theater

    Tickets

    03/31/07
    Berkley, CA
    Berkley Community Theater

    Tickets

    04/03/07
    Los Angeles, CA
    Orpheum Theater

    So that’s pretty convincing.
    I’m tempted, but I won’t. I would at $20.

  36. Oscar : 3/8/07 at 2:41 pm

The tickets aren’t even on sale anymore for Deimos. They pulled the sale. Either they sold out or cancelled.

  37. Oscar : 3/8/07 at 2:45 pm

The tickets are the same price for all shows, $40. They’re all sold out now.

  38. Jenn : 3/8/07 at 2:46 pm

I thought if it was at $20 then it wouldn’t be convincing, but since it’s close to the Orpheum price — it’s likely. Smaller venue, too.

  39. Frank : 3/8/07 at 2:53 pm

Well Jenn the spelling is DEIMIOS, I have not found anything for MIOS. I can’t give up my source, however my sources are never wrong!

Also the Daft Punk show is a rumor, w/ no official confirmation yet. I think it will happen I hope it’ll happen!

  40. Jenn : 3/8/07 at 2:59 pm

Frank, the spelling’s Deimos according to Troubadour’s site.

The only thing I could think up from “Deimios” is “Mine God!” Code for “Holy shit, you’ll never believe who’s playing this night!”

  41. Ryan : 3/8/07 at 3:15 pm

Deimios is the name of the puzzlingly angry man that works the snack bar at the Troubadour most nights. He goes by one name and one name only – his middle name. Please, tell him I said hello

  42. Frank : 3/8/07 at 3:17 pm

I think Ryan knows something we dont!

  43. Jenn : 3/8/07 at 3:24 pm

It pays to eat a half-cooked bbq hotdog. 8O

  44. Oscar : 3/8/07 at 3:28 pm

I heard it’s a Genesis secret show, not Mars Volta. Deimios means Genesis in Greek. Who knows???

  45. f.a. : 3/8/07 at 3:34 pm

Tickets are available again. Go figure.

  46. Frank : 3/8/07 at 3:48 pm

Let’s see if I can keep my indie street cred.I’ll look more into this matter

  47. Oscar : 3/8/07 at 5:28 pm

Yup, they’re not even sold out. I hope it doesn’t end up being Genesis instead of Mars Volta. I wouldn’t be able to give the tickets to Ryan.

  48. Tina : 3/8/07 at 9:53 pm

I bought tickets. Even if it’s not them I will probably just go anyways!

  49. Ryan : 3/8/07 at 10:08 pm

Oscar you wouldn’t want to miss Phil Collins in Haggar wrinkle-free pants in such an intimite venue

  50. Oscar : 3/8/07 at 10:20 pm

I bought tickets too. I had to once I found out Peter Gabriel is making a cameo. The Macy’s sponsorship of the show gave the band away. See ya there Ryan!

  51. f.a. : 3/8/07 at 11:52 pm

    http://deimosband.com/

    ugh… ?

  52. Jenn : 3/9/07 at 8:38 am

^that’d be a $15 show at the Troubadour, though. Even the Snow Patrol afternoon gig this past Saturday was only $30 (and that was a benefit show).

  53. Oscar : 3/9/07 at 9:58 am

WTF!? Deimos!? Did I just buy tickets for the poor man’s Slayer? Damn…..

  54. Oscar : 3/9/07 at 10:33 am

Cafe Tacuba w/ the Groove Armada @ The Hollywood Bowl July 15th!

  55. Frank : 3/9/07 at 10:45 am

Cornelius @ The El Rey 4/30 Tiks on sale Sat 10am

  56. Jeff : 3/9/07 at 11:29 am

    \m/ \m/

    (Slayer, baby)

    football jersey-wearing, pope-dissing, finger-tapping, double-kick-pounding, spikey-wristband-flaunting GRAMMY WINNING mofo’ers.

  57. Oscar : 3/9/07 at 11:45 am

Too bad Deimos isn’t Slayer. The Troubadour would be the ultimate headbangers ball! Maybe Deimos is really Gwar…

  58. Tina : 3/9/07 at 12:01 pm

    Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
    May 8 @ The Wiltern

  59. Oscar : 3/9/07 at 12:27 pm

Maximo Park, July 27th @ El Rey Theatre

  60. V. : 3/9/07 at 2:11 pm

    This just in…
THE RAPTURE opening for Frank’s DAFT PUNK show at the Sports Arena…
…Area residents brace for imminent onslaught of punk funk dance disco insanity…
We now return you to your regularly scheduled broadcast….

  61. sherru : 3/9/07 at 5:32 pm

OH MY GOD DAFT PUNK!!!!! We missed their phenomenal show at Coachella because we were listening to crappy Depeche Mode. OH IF I COULD DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN

  62. Frank : 3/10/07 at 8:58 am

Thats right V. it’s now official

Get ready for towering neon-disco- spaceship-pyramids and some ace
opening acts: New York dance-punks the Rapture, Ed Banger darling
SebasatiAn, and kitschy electro knightrider KavinSky. Oh hells yes.

No word yet on Daft Punk’s Electroma movie invading U.S. motion
picture palaces, but iMDb lists an April 28 theatrical release in
Japan. The film premiered at Cannes last year.

  63. Oscar : 3/10/07 at 1:10 pm

The Bravery is still available on Ticketmaster for their Troubadour show. They went on sale at 11:30 instead of 10am. I guess there was a glitch in their system.

  64. Oscar : 3/10/07 at 9:03 pm

Morrissey will be at The Hollywood June 8th!!!!

  65. Oscar : 3/11/07 at 3:24 pm

I guess Frank’s source is right! Deimos is Mars Volta! Their label mentions the show and that the band will start recording in April in L.A. Check it out: http://www.goldstandardlabs.com/news.html The info on that tour date is also on the label’s MySpace.

  66. Oscar : 3/11/07 at 7:29 pm

Bright Eyes @ The Arlington May 5th, The Walt Disney Concert Hall May 6th. Tickets on sale on the 17th.
