The Postmarks @ Troubadour, 5/3/07

’Postmarks’

This is Tim and Christopher of Miami’s The Postmarks. Tim is on the left, Chris on the right. (Jon is the 3rd band member, but he is not in this picture.) Yes, Tim is her name. Chris writes the tunes, Tim handles the words. At their merch table later, she insists to me that Tim is her full given name, not a nickname or a shortened version of something else. Of this, I am dubious.

’Postmarks’

The Postmarks make a summery 60’s-influenced chamber pop, complete with brass and strings. Real nice stuff. Of course, James Iha has remixed one of their songs. (Get it here.)

’Postmarks’

Live, The Postmarks open up the sound a bit. The add 2 extra bodies and work it a bit more loud and loose than the highly polished sheen of the record. This is a good thing. There’s plenty of time to perform with horns and strings and all that adult stuff later on.

In conclusion, The Postmarks are a step in the right direction to help redeem the tarnished reputation of Florida. Don’t blow it, kids.
