Scenes from The Godmother

By Ron - Wednesday June 06th 2007

Bay Cities Godmother

GODMOTHER (seated)

Nazorine, my friend, what can I do for you?

NAZORINE

Well now that the war is over, this boy, Enzo — they want to repatriate him back to Italy.

Godmother, I have a daughter. You see, she and Enzo…

GODMOTHER

They can’t find parking.

NAZORINE (stands)

You understand everything.

[they shake hands, Nazorine turns to leave]

GODMOTHER

Bene.

What now?

Oh god oh god oh god. Drool. Goddamit. Why does Bay Cities have to be in Santa Monica? Anyone know of a place I can get a big honkin’ saga of an Italian sub somewhere closer to Hollywood?

An Italian deli is opening in Pasadena called Porta Via (California near Fair Oaks), is this a chain? If so, is it any good?

meh. Bay Cities should be great, but it just isn’t. Sorry. I know there are not acceptable subsitutes around, but this really is just the best of a bad lot.

I have talked with many folks about opening a sub shop and doing it right, but where to put it? And why hasn’t someone already filled this void?

(lived in Philly for many years & think I know a good sandwich)

mmmmmmmm, just had my first in almost a year last weekend, means summer is here.
For those quipping for some where more east bound, there’s a brand new spot Saco’s (sp?) in westwood, it’s not a bay cities but it does the fix.
